Looked totally flat and disinterested to me, maybe just had his mind on other things, having said that his game stats would be greatly accepted by the majority of midfielders in the competition.

30 disposals in a winning team and the rating is he had one of his poorest games.

zero tackles and zero goals doesn't help the rating

Martin has had zero tackles and zero goals on 3 previous occasions. All losses
2015 Elimination final v Norf with 23 disposals
2016 Round 18 v Hawthorn with 39 disposals
2018 Round 9 v West Coast with 26 disposals

I notice his dont argues are far less effective than they used to be.  Opposition players have worked out how to counter it.

Society as a whole are almost conditioned to only retain what is perceived as a negative/fault/error so it's easy to overlook the positives.  The match played on Thursday night was under extremely tough conditions with 90% humidity which is energy sapping.  Creative, risk taking ball players are always going to make some mistakes but when they come off and create the play it's magic. Some positives:  15 contested possessions (2nd), game high 11 score involvements, 628 metres gained (2nd), game high 7 inside 50s plus 1 coaches vote.

CARLTON v RICHMOND

10 Trent Cotchin (RICH)
8 Kane Lambert (RICH)
6 Patrick Cripps (CARL)
4 Toby Nankervis (RICH)
1 Kamdyn McIntosh (RICH)
1 Dustin Martin (RICH)

One of the times he got caught holding the ball was when we were breaking 3 on 1 through the middle and he bounced the ball thinking the carlton defender would be guarding the 2 free men and was immediately tackled - no failure of his dont argue there.

There were 2-3 times he did get caught when he tried to fend off but those most likely would have failed in his 2017 year given he was in the middle of a pack. Breaking away from a pack i doubt anything has changed.

Let's count how many times he gets tackled to not getting pinned this week.
I think Pies are gonna have some serious problems this week. lol

I thought he was poor last week by his lofty standards.

Ball use and decision making weren’t great IMO.

Playing like he is carrying some injury. Just doesn't appear to have the power in his movement that he use to have. The 'don't argue' certainly isn't effective anymore. Also when your form isn't great you don't pull out the cute kicks when you have a set shot 25m out. Stick to doing the basics right and then build up your form from there.

Agree, needs to go back to basics. Needs to aim for 10 tackles in his next game.

Let’s not go overboard with the set shot. He will always always take a snap from that angle whether in horrible or great form.

I feel like the ‘best player in the comp’ tag is in his head. He wants to do the tricky kicks but he’s not hunting the ball like he was in 17. Needs to get back to basics.

Stop making excuses that he is injured

You could see it last week teams have worked him out.

He hasn't been that player for about a dozen games now
