Club champion , but haven't liked a few things this season.

Told preseason his flying yet his lucky he can run or sprint.
💯 Kane is right shouldn't be going no where get rehab and recovery not great look
His 300th game club puts beautiful presentation his a not show on it or even a club website interview yet he does a interview on fox footy with Jack bit disrespectful for me.
Something is not right.

‘Don’t really care’: Richmond coach Adem Yze hits back at Dustin Martin accusation

Jason Phelan
Newswire
July 21st, 2024

Richmond coach Adem Yze has defended the decision to allow superstar veteran Dustin Martin to travel to New Zealand while he struggles to shake a nagging back injury.

Martin missed games against Fremantle, GWS and Port Adelaide, all losses, with the persistent injury, and was allowed to leave the country to visit with family during his rehab.

Speaking to reporters after the Tigers’ 41-point loss to the Power at Adelaide Oval, it was put to Yze that some might question the wisdom of letting a 33-year-old with a bad back undertake two lengthy international flights while trying to regain full fitness.

“I don’t really care what other people say … he needed some time away,” Yze said.

“He wasn’t going to be available to play, so he got away and spent some time with family, and he’ll come back into our program and try to get fit for the next game.

“The week before he had some time away, his back was a bit crook, so he’s come back and he will hopefully train this week and hopefully be available for the Collingwood game.

“He was a bit sore the other day when he did get back and couldn’t finish training, so we need a full week of training for him to be available.”

Speculation about Martin’s playing future beyond this season continues, with a reunion with premiership coach Damien Hardwick at Gold Coast or even retirement an option for the triple-premiership star.

"There is clearly now, and it has been in play for some time, a doubt we see him again." - Barrett.

"It's a circus." - Cornes

Damian Barrett and Kane Cornes discuss Dustin Martin's future.

It's not a great look but frankly Dusty has had such a career that he can really do whatever he wants. I dont think he owes anyone anything.
But that time has come this offseason to make a call.

Cornes & Barratt are just upset they don't actually know what is going on because the club is keeping this situation to itself

The media are making it a circus and then using it as a negative jab to take at the club.

Think we forget that Dusty was close to All Aus this year.

Hed playing in the bottom side as a 32yo. Carrying niggles. Plenty of older players not contributing like they used to.

Goes Jack Gunston going? Ben Brown? Nobody cares about them.
Go Tigers!

I think the club and Dusty aren’t helping the situation at all. Going to NZ was only ever going to add fuel to the burning media fire surrounding Dusty. Yze made an interesting comment re Dusty the other week when he alluded to him aggravating his back playing golf… odd comment to make knowing it would raise questions about what’s going on inside the club and with Dusty’s commitment / future. Almost like it was his way of saying that Dusty isn’t committed???

"There is a belief at Richmond, whether they publically admit it or not, that he has to some degree checked out of that part of his career."

Sam McClure with the details on the 'frustration' at Tigerland with Dusty over recent weeks.
