Agree with most of that Claw.

Q: why do you have our concession pick around 35? It will be lower than our second round pick as it comes straight after ports second rounder. Should be closer to the 25 mark you are looking for.

If we could use our first two picks on mids (I like Ben kennedy), pick up Chaplin and Cloke free agency, grab Lee and a ruck in the ND, Hartigan PSD, and top up with some mature mids like Cook and Cockie in the rookie draft, plus maybe another indigenous small I'd be moonwalking across the nullabor to yours with a few cases  :cheers

Might even stop by FJ's...

Only inflicted about 5 concussions this year  :thumbsup ;D He played in a few flags at Subi and was only covering for Shuey at WC when he (Shuey) was injured since he was only a rookie. He definitely isn't struggling, and hasn't been around the block. You could say the same for Cook, and Cook is a bit older. Cockie and Cook are probably the only two main stays in the Sandy midfield since all the St Kilda spuds keep taking up the positions in the firsts and it's why quite a few Sandy players have requested to be released. Everyone knows since the writing is on the wall for everyone to see, but the VFL is so rooted that if/when AFL clubs break away from their affiliations the competition will pretty much dissolve.

personally with our first pick if we use it in the nd id go for jake stringer.he could be the next goddard or even pavlich.

Goddard and Pav don't kick like Richo last time I watched Freo or Saints.

i think we traded that. we now have a compo pick off port which we are using.

Anyone like Tyson Goldsack as a kpp (Goldsack is uncontracted)? Anyone reckon Maverick Weller can play? Goldsack is a very capable player and if Miller can do a job at CHF for 2 years for us then maybe Goldsack could as well. Weller came with a big junior reputation. Get Chaplin via free Agency and pick up say Ben Kennedy with our 1st round pick and this is what you get:

Dylan Grimes          Troy Chaplin           Steve Morris
Chris Newman         Alex Rance            Brandon Ellis
Shaun Grigg           Trent Cotchin         Maverick Weller
Reece Conca          Tyson Goldsack       Dustin Martin
Jake King               Jack Riewoldt         Shane Edwards
Ivan Maric              Shane Tuck           Brett Deledio
Ben Kennedy           Ben Griffiths           Jake Batchelor          Tyrone Vickery

Matt Dea (em)        Brett O'Hanlon (em)   Bachar Houli (em)

Personally I think this is a pretty good side.

I was keen on Goldsack last year and I'm pretty sure he re-signed.

Maybe he only signed a one year last year because I know he was uncontracted last year along with Macaffer and McCarthy.

yep we are close on the process a little different on the players themselves.not too different though.

yeah for some reason put the cp after our second rounder.
my understanding is there are 6 first rnd and mid first rnd picks being activated. effectively making the first rnd 24 picks.
if port  and tiges finish where they are now their second rounder is pick 29 our cp is 30 and our second rounder would be 32.
would dearly love another pick around 20-25 cant see how we can trade into that sort of pick though. maybe some one can come up with a realistic scenario.

imo we must get 4 mids this draft/trade period. first two picks should go onto mids.

ben kennedy is just too small for me i would never use a top 10 pick on such a small player regardless of how much he shows and he shows a fair bit and i could be really wrong, nothing new there.
in being highly optimistic and hoping we got pick 20 somehow.  id be dreaming if we got stringer 10  and nick vlastuin 20 atkins at 30 and  depending which way we were to go lee or tanner smith  32. three mids and  either a 22 yo kpp or 18 yo kpd.
would be over the moon with that scenario.

from there a young ruckman late nd,  moloney or some other suitable mature mid psd, chaplin free agency, 19yo  duffy late nd  hes a kid still,  hartigan and maybe a mature mid  or two like dwyer sundberg etc on the rookie list. that would be a balance of 6 or 7 18yo taken with mainly decent picks , plus  5 or 6 older types aged 19 thru to moloney the oldest at 29 all dirt cheap.

again these are just some of the players i like there are others and needless to say the club may not like any of them. theres a few west aussie kids and mature types i really like but will keep it to myself for now.
important point is  i sure would hope the club is planning to go thru a similar type process regardless of who the players are we end up with.
we have already lost/cut 5 players  to achieve the above it would mean 8 from the list proper  another 5 to go to go, and 4 rookies another one or two  its not a big ask when you consider the quality of the list.
we would be well and truly looking after our long term with quality. we would fix two areas of the list in one go.
in doing the above two we also manage to look to the now and give ourselves a chance to push on to finals next yr with slightly older players who can improve our team and depth immediately.

I wouldn't go as far to say it's a real concern but definitely far from polished. Honestly I'm just a fan because he's entertaining and I love how hard he smashes blokes when I watch him at the Zebras. Would prefer Cook at Richmond if I really had to choose though.

Credit to Blair Hartley that his 'hidden gems' finished 3rd, 5th, 7th and 10th in the B&F tonight. He's earning his salary. Hopefully his good  recruiting strike rate continues over this offseason.
