watch him closely in traffic Daniel.

he has balance and poise, more than i have seen in a first year player for a long time. he seems to have time where he shouldnt have. those deft little movements that create enough time and a cool head are not things that can be taught.

he may not be overly quick but he is a natural footballer and this will overcome any lack of pace. examples of this that come to mind are paul broderick and greg williams.

if he was bigger/stronger and quicker he would possibly be once in a lifetime player, as it is he will be a very good footballer. I just hope he doesnt go home to WA to realise his potential

Sam Mitchell is also another good example IMO. His not overly fast but he seems to create alot of time for him self with ball in hand.
I think its two early to judge Conca. Hopefully he can build up a bigger tank over the pre-season which I have no doubt he will.

You cant deny we should have taken Heppell who was a much safer bet?
In saying that Reece will be a serviceable player but no Chris Judd...

Yep I love his work through traffic bc he also hits packs and one grabs the footy at full pace - not many players can do that

also, just on his pace - he's not slow, much quicker than your broderick, mitchell diesel types, not a jet like Lids but not slow either.

Not sure how some see him as a dud, got me stumped

Why was heppel a safer bet?

He was expected to go earlier but supposedly slipped because of long term doubts over his knee.

how strong a character is heppel? Di Hird play him primarily as a loose man in defence early in the season because he felt that heppel needs to be nursed along, whereas dimma was happy for conca to learn some harsh lessons early on?

conca wont be the best draft pick taken last year, but i believe he was one of the safest and will more than likely be a very valuable player to the club.

Heppell shirks contests.  Yet to see Reece shirk a contest.

Seen Heppell go back with the flight a few times though. Not all 18 year olds can come into the AFL and have the courage of Rance, Selwood etc

He's not at the Rising Star award because he's recovering from surgery.

Reece is recovering from surgery which is why he isn't at the Rising Star Award ceremony today.
