Anyone got the tackle on youtube yet? Bloody game analyser on afl.com.au is on the blink again.

Checked this morning, no luck.

Hes a big boy too. I wouldnt be suprised if he's 190/191cm, rather than his listed height.

This kid is a ripper!!!!

He looks so comfortable out on the ground and seems to have time and a level head.

Robbo rates Batch ....

Jake Batchelor

Plenty of best-played games listed today, and, OK, it was only Batchelor's sixth, but we going to apply the oft-used cliche: The Tigers have found one here. His best previous numbers were 13 in Round 1 v Carlton and on Saturday night it was 23 against the Lions. Conca has been added to the talented list of Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Deledio, Foley, and today Batchelor joins them. For a young player, a baby, the key elements of performance are effort, standing up under pressure and making cool decisions. Tick. Tick. Tick. As for the Tigers ... welcome back. Terrific win.

I think he meant the Dockers, not the Lions.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

Unfortunately I don't agree on this point Tuckerbag. I thought he was really down and his disposal was not as good as it usually is

His disposal was poorer than usual but thought he had a good game back from a weeks rest.

Dimma was asked last night if that was Batchelor's best game ...

"He's had a pretty solid season. Look we believe he's going to be a very good player for us. You know he's first year but the way he uses the ball, his composure - he's a smart player. We think he's going to be a long-term player for us which is good."

Growing pains
By Jason Phelan
Sun 10 Jul, 2011

FIRST-YEAR Richmond player Jake Batchelor has experienced some extreme highs and lows in his short AFL career and he's confident the Tigers aren't far away from climbing out of their most recent trough.

Richmond suffered its fifth loss in six games when it succumbed to Essendon by 39 points on Saturday night, but Batchelor maintains the run of outs are growing pains rather than backward steps.

"We all want to learn and we're on this journey together," he said.

"We have our setbacks obviously, but we'll be a better team for it. We know we'll be right. We've got faith in our game plan."

The Tigers conceded the last 10 goals of the match at the MCG, which Batchelor said was easy to see happening, but harder to stop.

"You can sense it, but I just think it comes down to maturity to be able to stop that run and then go again," he said.

"It's all a mindset. We know that we can do it, but we just need to get that self-belief that we can do it week in, week out.

"I thought we were right in the game for two-and-a-half quarters, but they got a run on and we dropped off with our intensity a bit, which is uncharacteristic. We need to be able to run out a full four quarters week in, week out.

"When we played with composure earlier in the game we got the results we wanted, but we went away from that and it cost us dearly."

That lack of composure manifested itself on the scoreboard, of course, but was also easy to pinpoint of the stats sheet where Richmond was out-tackled 89-59.

"We were up by two tackles at quarter-time and we lost that by 30 by the end of the game," Batchelor said.

"They lifted their intensity and we didn't match them.

"That's a bit of inconsistency, but I think the main thing was we just lacked a bit of composure."

SEN said Batch's shoulder will be monitored during the week. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Richmond football manager Ross Monaghan said 19-year-old defender Jake Batchelor, who suffered slight concussion in the match against Geelong, is expected to recover for the clash with fifth-placed West Coast in Perth on August 7.
