26 Jul, 2011 AFL footballer Jake Batchelor returned to his junior football club, the Frankston Rovers, last Thursday to lead a coaching session.
Now with Richmond, the 19-year-old defender debuted for the Tigers in round one and has played 14 AFL matches.
The Frankston Rovers received a NAB club recognition award after Batchelor notched up 11 kicks, 11 handpasses, six marks and two tackles in a match against Essendon at the MCG in round 16. The award is a package of practical and financial resources designed to assist developing future champions which is presented after each round to the nominated player's junior football club.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said Batchelor's development has continued throughout the season.
"Jake has worked really hard to get his opportunity and we have been impressed with how composed he looks at the highest level.
"He is an outstanding character around the club."
