Well I think he is poo too.
You could put up with him not contributing anything on the rebound if he was a solid defender, but he is not. He is a midsize defender that struggles with small and talls. He simple isn't agile enough for a 188cm player.
He may not be as bad as Houli or Beliis but that still is not good enough.
Just my 2cents.

I thought he was OK not great by any stretch ubt OK.

Loved that pinpoint pass in the first and that second effort tackle that resulted in a free in the final ...pity a few others refuse to offer first effrots defensively let only 2nd efforts

Played a solid game Batch. Certainly puts his balls on the line more than guys like Houli, Ellis, Vickery etc

 :facepalm...

Here we go, this is another example of why we will never progress. Every game people accept these players and every year they are still in the team going through the motions every game.... :help

Crap post WAT.

I don't 'accept' Batchelor as being anything more than a C-grade player, but the reality is our list is in deep poo and he definitely wasn't in our worst handful last night. He did more good things than bad for sure.

Yes he shouldn't be on our list, and won't be top 22 for any contending team, but based on what we're seeing this year he isn't one of the blokes who should be dominating the spotlight for performance.

Neither is Morris for that matter. Another average footballer who is consistently putting in more effort than some of his more talented team mates.

It's guys like Houli, Grigg, Vickery, B. Ellis etc who aren't performing to their potential and putting their nuts on the line. That doesn't mean Morris and Batchelor should stay on our list but honestly with the depth issues we have at the moment they're a damned sight better than those four.

List needs an overhaul but based on playing ability guys like Batch and Morris are performing better than the likes of them.

Well said

What can I say mate I was actually at the damned game.

I wanted to jump the fence and stuffing smash Vickery, Griffiths and B Ellis for being so god damned SOFT and LAZY.

Certainly couldn't say that about Batch or Morris.

And to ice the cake it was the 'Coming Home' night for Jake King. FMD if ever there was a lovable average footballer who was tougher than he had any right to be he was the man. Disproportionately strong given his physique, uncompromisingly brave, and gave his proverbial 110% every damned week.

We miss guys like Tuck and Jackson so badly, but honestly we were a better side with guys like King and even (F me for saying it) Chris Newman down the backline would be nice these days because at least you know he'd go back with the flight and kick the damned ball well.

No matter how badly we play, I'll never miss Hackson or Newman....a momentum-killing dumbarse and Captain Unaccountable...

Bachelor is not perfect but he's not as poor as the list blockers

I have him in the middle c graders group. With Lloyd. Short. Types

Bachelor is fortunate Richmond lack of natural defensive players as certainly a a lack of lock down mid / smalls.

talls too lol, this is why is often used by mr "I sit in the box but I can't remember what happened' ardwick to play on resting ruckman

I agree we carry a huge percentage of soft players on game day

Trade or delist, not the future end of story.

l still stand by Batchlor. l have seen him do many good things while at games when the team is going well. Many of you Don't see that on TV. He don't take the best forward but he does try & is a good kick among other things. His not at his best at present as they are all down, But there is a huge amount of pressure on him when your key defenders are down or out injured. The Hawks have a solid forward line of stars & we are 10 steps behind them as a premiership contender. When Rance, Grimes, Conca, Vlaustin, are all in the backline they all lift each other. A knee injury has just added to our season problems but to dish it out on him when he played ok is not aceptable. Wake up people our club is in turmoil on & off the field. There are many problems down at Tigerland.

from the players that played last night

is bachelor the first that needs to be dropped?

Yep, him and Morris, have we done any better since they came in??? Play Elton instead or is Morris and Batch the future??

It seems like you dont watch much of the game, then just log in the morning after, check the stats and if they are on the lowish side for certaon players, make the assumption they are the worst players in the team.

On the logic of stats, youd believe B Ellis is a god.

And for the record i reckon Morris was reasonable last night.
Funny how people see things different. I thought Morris again tried hard, gave his all but was basically horrid. If his errors didnt cost at least 4 goals i will go heave.

I was at the game. Pretty fair summary of his performance.
Tries his guts out but just isn't good enough....

What has changed with Batchelor over the years? Answer is absolutely nothing.
Like a lot of our players he has his good moments. In the main he struggles because he just lacks the pace and agility to play sml and he is torn apart because of a lack of height size and for want of a better way of saying it leap to play tall.
He defends okay at times but mostly struggles. he sometimes provides a bit of run but mostly it doesnt happen.

It was evident from day one and it remains evident 6 years later. 6 freakin years and still people argue about his worth. It is true you know it is indeed madness to do the same things over and over and expect different results.
At the end of the year he would be one of the first i would look to trade/delist  maybe we can get a late pick for him Someone is bound to think they can turn him around.
