Your best team for early stages of 2011 season

-Firstly i have aimed at having 3 forwards and 3 backs 192cm+ because I think it's a must in todays afl
-Mcguane is comfortably our best stopper at full back and now weighing 95kg at 192cm is a nice size
-Astbury obviously at CHB and Gourdis the 3rd tall defender either starting on the ground or on the bench with Webberley starting in his half back flank position depending on the oposition match ups
-That means that Moore doesn't make it being way too small to play key position and not providing as much skill as other smaller defenders. He only takes full back or the number 1 forward twice a year anyway. He tends to look better because he plays on 2nd or 3rd best forward and being further out from goal his possessions are under less pressure than deep in the goal square. He turns the ball over just as much as the unfairly maligned Mcguane anyway
-Graham and Browne probably could easily be replaced by Vickery or Derickx as the season goes on. Good competition
-I believe Webberley is our best 4th small defensive option from the bench to release Deledio into the midfield for maybe 5 minutes a quarter because of his skill
-If Conca is ready i'd like to see him get a run on the wing to give Morton a spot at half forward to boost our smaller forward options otherwise play Conca at half forward and Morton on the wing instead
-Houli being the other valuable experienced half forward flanker but in good competition with King(suspended Round 1) for the same position
-The promising Post given plenty of time at half forward with the Griffiths the 3rd tall in the pocket
-Taylor given a run in the other pocket but with good competition from Hicks, Helbig and Mcdonald
-I'd like to limit having only 1 of grigg, jacko or tuck in the team
-Reiwoldt in the obvious position and the ever improving Edwards on the wing
-Cotchin, Martin and Foley being our starting engine room and Deledio, Morton, Grigg, Houli, Edwards and Conca spreading the load
-Rance being the spare parts man playing forward, back and even midfield

Where were you when he was toweling up forwards most weeks in 2008? Didn't see him matching it with the likes of Jonathan Brown? The dude can play and definitely isn't too small to compete with the big guys. If McGuane is our best stopper then we're in trouble. Moore finished 8th in the B&F, was McGuane even top 20? pretty sure Astbury finished ahead of him as well.

I was disappointed with Kel at times but he's still a better player than McGuane is. Moore will play round 1.

In 2008 Moore was usually 3rd tall behind Mcguane and Thursfield. He played on Fev in the centenary game when those 2 were out injured. Not sure why he's so highly rated. Makes a handy midsized defender but is pretty much a midget every week and is out sized and outplayed because of this. I've been waiting for 2 years to finally have a defence who matches the opposition for size and height. The best Moore can do as a key position is come out 50-50 with his bigger opponent, but usually he'll be beaten in 1 on 1s. If you compare Mcguanes goals against to opposition inside 50s, he's probably one of the best stoppers in the league. He has probably had to face more inside 50s than any full back in the league over the last 3 years. As for kicking, it was only this year he was a bit nervous with the occasional short pass. These errors will disappear. It's all about confidence because he's a lovely long kick

No he wasn't. He played on the #1 forward quite often....I remember him playing on Fev, Brown, Franklin etc. In 08 Moore started off at FB with Schulz playing a fair bit at CHB, Mcguane didnt even play for the first month of the season (and I think he played about 15 games in total). Kel was beating most of the players he was playing on in 2008 which is why he is rated. I didn't rate his 09 but 2010 was pretty good for him.

Just out of curiosity, are you that bloke from BigFooty who thought Cleve Hughes was a gun? And holy poo, did you just say that it was only this season McGuane was a bit shakey with his kicks?

But in all seriousness Kel is superior player to Maguane. I actually like Luke but his kicking has always been shizenhouzen.

Even if Kel is slightly undersized for a true full back, what is the harm in having a versatile, mid-sized defender in the the team?
He is a quality ball user who provides good drive out of defense. I also believe he is solid in one on one situations, but i understand that some dont share this opinion.
