BEST:
Coburg Tigers: Post Dea Browne Clifton Carnell Tuck

Hmm interesting

Thought Tuck was good for 4 qtrs, ditto Browne, Post was better in defence that in attack IMHO

Dea's biggest problem was he wouldn't go in a tackle, will happily corral but couple times today needed to attack the guy with the ball and lay an tackle - didn't do it

thought Nason was better in the 2nd half after an ordinary 1st half

Not crazy good but as one of Post's harshest critics because of his apparent lack in intensity at times I thought when he went down back he worked alot harder off the ball than he did when forward

I would want him to string a few more "good" (as in consistency in effort) togather before he gets an AFL game

Carnell - Sensational & should be on a list somewhere
Goo -OK but beaten on day , 2 OOF didnt help
Webbs- very good
Nason- short of a run but OK
Tom X -OK in ruck & around ground ,couldnt hold his marks tho
Hicks -so so
Morton- horrible,lazy,up himself
BrownE - very good, slow though
Farmer - OK in first then nothing
Tuck -OK but will be @ Coburg for another week at least
DMac - went OK & kicked a great goal in the dew kickers
Westy- very good & kicked 4 I think, close to seniors according to him

Time for Dea.

IMO not based on today

I saw Hardwick take Dea aside at the 3/4 time huddle and have a bit of a chat. It might mean he's in contention for next week, who knows? I thought Post was terrific. The mark down the Coburg grandstand end wing was a screamer. He played well forward, if a little wasteful with a couple of shots. Then he had to drop back to stem the bleeding in the 3rd, and was marking everything down there, as well as drifting back forward to provide an option. In other words, he was working his ass off both ways, something he's been criticised for not doing in the past. Hope he gets a game this week.
That Derickx kick in the last qtr was a shocker. A set shot 20 metres out on a slight angle, it squirted off his boot about three feet off the ground and flew out on the full.

Farmer - another who needed to do more. Fairly quiet as well.

Missed a lot of footy, first game back

Round 3 Match Reports Vs, Northern Bullants
Coburg Tigers website
April 19, 2011

Seniors

We met Northern Bullants at the newly renamed Mantello Holden Oval on what was a great day for football.

Bullants started quickly and kicked the first goal, but Mitch farmer who was returning from injury quickly replied and the remainder of the quarter was a bit scrappy with the ball moving between the arcs a lot.

In the second quarter it was basically goal for goal until we let the Bullants get a few late goals and we went into the main break 3 goals adrift.

He third quarter was very similar again to the first but Thornton and O’hailpin were proving a bit of a handful up forward for the Bullants, but Matt Dea was doing a great job on Ahmed Saad who had been dangerous in other games with his goal licking.

We headed into the last quarter just 10 points down and were confident we could over run them but they got the jump on us early in the quarter but we rallied back with goals to Hicks,Carnell and James Lawton with 2  and Tom Derickx started to take some strong marks up forward, but when the siren sounded we went down by 7 points.

A disappointing result, but the positives were Andrew Browne  who was dominant in the ruck once again. Ben Clifton did a great job on Ellard, and Jayden Post was dangerous both in attack and also when he was thrown into defence.Nick Carnell once again proved what a valuable player he is to the club also.

We now look forward to meeting Box Hill for the annual Anzac Day clash next Sunday 24th April at Box Hill City Oval.

Coburg Tigers             2.4  5.8  9.10  15.11 (101)
Northern Bullants       3.4  8.6  12.8  16.12 (108)

GOALS: Carnell 3 Hicks 2 Farmer 2 Lawton 2 Derickx Nason  Post  Clifton  Contin  Gourdis

BEST: Post Dea Browne Clifton Carnell Tuck

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

The Development squad had a great win and there were some positive signs to indicate our depth for this year and for the future is good.

Nathan Thomas was effective with his tackling and overall midfield play.

Andrew Duhau was dangerous all day up and around the half forward line and Rowan Hore once again showed that he may not be far away from a senior game if he continues to play the way he has been with his strong marking and goal kicking.Dylan Murphy was elusive around the goals and his is a strong tackler for a player of his size.

Nick Westhoff was a focal target up forward also and  Willie Wheeler was effective playing on ball and his clearance work similar to Nathan Thomas set us up with regular forward attacks.

2011 VFL Reserves

Coburg Tigers            3.3  9.6  16.10  20.15 (135)
Northern Bullants       1.4  4.7    12.8   14.8 (92)

GOALS:
Coburg Tigers: Murphy 4 Westhoff 4 Duhau 4 Ambrose 2 MacDonald 2 Grgic  Dahl  Thomas  Jordan
BEST:
Coburg Tigers: Hore Wheeler Duhau Westhoff Thomas Murphy
