Too many passengers for Richmond.

Miller, Edwards, nason all ineffective. Deledio and captain quiet

Miller was good again last night.
once again he cleared passages for smaller forwards, his handballs to advantage was excellent.
the matty white goal on the run was a classic.
keep up the good work Brad :thumbsup

If he gets his set shot kick right he'll be a real weapon.

I like Miller. The role he is playing isn't too central that it holding back development but what he does is involve others which is improving development.

He's allowing Jack right of passage, taking a key defender with him as well as helping the team play to a game plan that isn't Riewoldt central.

Really liking his input.

when miller decides to bring the ball to ground it does most times.

he is creating opportunities for our crumbers.

he is just average at best skill wise but has smarts and endeavor.

Nahas - his last 2 weeks have been sensational. Gives us another much needed dimension, is becoming very damaging and his mistakes are diminishing.

Been highly critical of Nahas and despite going to ground on a couple of occasions I thought it was his best game last night by a long long way. He was BOG by a huge margin

Quote

Thought Vickery's game was about as good as we've seen from him. His body work is improving and I loved his tackle on McGrath and the way he rubbed it in when he had him down, showed some ****!

Absolutely agree but it needs to become the norm rather than the exception, the fact he made contests was the most pleasing thing IMHO

we won the game with pro lion umpires

You are kidding User - I thought the umpiring was very good, little impact on the contest = the way it should be

Overall I was really pleased with the win. We still have alot of issues, on a really positive note, Alex Rance could make alot of us eat our words. His improvement has been extraordinary. He was terrific tonight. Credit where Credits due. He was very good and 99% of his kicking was exceptional.

yep he was very good last night

Love Grimes down back. Just needs size. Houli good game but Power did sneak in 4 goals.

Only 2 things that are concerning me about Grimes at the moment is his wanting to constantly spoil, couple of times last night he should have gone the mark instead of the punch.

The other is he goes to ground alot after spoiling which isn't an issue if the spoil sends the ball over the line but when it doesn't and opposition are keeping their feet it can hurt on the scorebard

They are 2 minor things that I know in time will get sorted out but I hope it is getting pointed out to him now because the kid is actually a reasonable contested mark

Agreed, its great to have him there cos of his experience.
IF he can get his kicking on track he could bag maybe 2-3 a game
I will look forward to seeing what our forward line is capable of against stronger teams in the weeks to come

better to get it wrong that way than mark when he should spoil. Kid playing his 3rd game or so, being a bit conservative is ok.

That will change with confidence i reckon.

Agree al, just can think of 2 times last night where Rance put on the block for him to take the mark and he spoiled - needs to look at the tape and learn from it

nothing wrong with mistakes if you learn from them.

could the problem be lack of talk from rance?

Possibily

Agree the key is learning frm things which I reckon Grimes will do

Rance's best most complete game for the club. His improvement has been staggering tbh from last season to now. His spoiling, body work, strength, DECISION MAKING  and skills have gone through the roof.

Nahas - his last 2 weeks have been sensational. Gives us another much needed dimension, is becoming very damaging and his mistakes are diminishing.

Thought Miller has stabilised/organised our forward structure, tonight included - he just needs to bloody kick some goals - momentum killer.

I know Nason gets no love here but thought he was good tonight, love his run.

One problem we have is that our bit part players who play a defined role go completely missing when our stars get shut down ala the 3rd quarter. Players like White, King, Edwards, Nason need to take a leaf out of nahas's book and get in there and help out when the chips are down.

Im sorry but I've really gone off Edwards as a player completely. I know he did some good things in close but he makes me want to go hooligan when he has the ball 'outside'. He's a heart in your mouth type player everytime he gets the damn ball!

Thought Vickery's game was about as good as we've seen from him. His body work is improving and I loved his tackle on McGrath and the way he rubbed it in when he had him down, showed some ****!

Apart from that Martin was awesome, Foley was very very good, Cotchin started well but faded, Conca is coming along well, Deledio was solid, King (another 3 goals lol) and ofcourse jack is a bloody gun 5 goals - great tussle with Merrett

We've definitely improved but we still have a long way to go - hate it when we get too cute

edit: forgot to add what was with Grigg's performance tonight? Was he right? bc he looked like he was running with cement boots, seemed to be labouring bigtime

agree with all of that. great summary.

I'll also admit that Nahas did a good job last night.  His handing off of the ball when under pressure was very good.

He's still too small though, but he's really having a crack.

he's obviously fitter than ever before. Can run and help in defence as well as kicking sneaky goals up forward. He's not gonna out body anyone but his pace and now with his endurance he's really stepped up into an important player for us.
The club that keeps giving.
