The latest (and interesting statements at the end of the article):-

Tigers hold firm on Maric offer

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/trade-week-everything-you-need-to-know/story-fn69a32t-1226164479567

.....Cameron confirmed interest from "a couple" of clubs about defender Luke McGuane and said a deal was likely towards the end of the trade period.

With the likely arrival of Maric, the club has also been asked about the availability of ruckman Angus Graham.

But Cameron said Graham was contracted and a required player, along with big man Andrew Browne, who has been offered a new contract.

Daniel Connors' name has been floated in trade talks but has attracted little interest.

Cameron said Daniel Jackson was close to signing a new contract and would definitely be at Punt Rd next season.

Pleasing we aren't going to cave into Adelaide's laughable demands for our first rounder or compo pick. Pick 37 and maybe Nason or a late pick (4th rounder) I'm guessing may be our maximum offer take it or leave it. That would be on par with the trade Adelaide did to get Jacobs.

It looks like Port and Sydney are looking to swap seaby 4 armstrong;
Quote
SYDNEY Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed that Port Adelaide has shown interest in ruckman Mark Seaby

Speaking to afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio, Longmire also confirmed that the club's recruiting manager, Kinnear Beatson, had commenced discussions with Adelaide to secure 22 year-old Tony Armstrong.

If this deal goes ahead it definately gives us the fall back of the PSD if the crows continuue to be unreasonable

i honestly feel we are paying overs giving up our 2nd round pick mt - not for bloody Ivvvarn!

hes not anywhere near jacobs level, who is younger and has more upside yet went for pick 33? - we're kidding ourselves arent we?  :huh :huh

very very dissapointed with how this whole matter is being conducted - we've been mouthing off publicly abt our desperate need for a ruck for mnths - adelaide playing hardball is a consequence of that. negotiation not a strong point at punt rd

The Crows, in contrast, have lost several players and are keen to trade for players rather than draft picks. That has meant Richmond and Sydney have had to review their offers for Ivan Maric and Tony Armstrong respectively.

The likelihood is that the Tigers will talk today about players that might be exchanged for Maric. To date, they have offered only their second pick (No. 37).

If we asked him to go into ND with a $$ on his head, 1mn spread over 4 years, front loaded with 500k next year, no-one else would touch him until 37, guaranteed

Heres the players taken at pick 37 over the last 10 or so years and there's been some good picks. This years draft is admittedly weaker (apparently) but it still serves as an ok starting point for what we could be possibly giving up to get Maric.

2010 - 37 Geelong Cats – George Horlin-Smith  :huh
2009- 37 North Melbourne - Jamie Macmillan  :huh
2008 - 37 Fremantle -- Zachary Clarke  :thumbsup
2007 - 37 North Melbourne - Scott Thompson  :banghead sort of
2006 - 37 north Melbourne - Todd Goldstein  :thumbsup
2005 - 37 Collingwood - John Anthony  :banghead
2004 - 37 West Coast - Mark Lecras  :thumbsup
2003  - 37 Richmond - Tom Roach  :banghead :banghead :banghead
2002 - 37 West Coast - Brent Staker  :thumbsup(sort of)
2001 - 37 St.kilda - Leigh Montagna  :thumbsup
2000 - 37 Collingwood - Guy Richards  :banghead

I'd rate the pick as 1 in 2 chance of a quality player. In this compromised draft, it may be more like a 1 in 3 chance.

Hers the 10 or so picks around pick 37 in the 2005, which is probably one of the weakest drafts in recent times. There's probably only 2 or maybe 3 ok players in this lot, so it provides a good comparison too.

2   32   Bernie Vince   Woodville-West Torrens   Adelaide
2   33   Samuel Gilbert   Southport   St Kilda
2   34   Matthew Spangher   Eastern Ranges   West Coast
2   35   Stephen Owen   North Ballarat Rebels   Geelong
3   36   Jake Edwards   Western Jets   Carlton
3   37   John Anthony   Northern Knights   Collingwood
3      38   Travis Tuck   Dandenong Stingrays   Hawthorn
3    39   Jay Neagle   Gippsland Power   Essendon
3   40   Travis Casserly   Swan Districts   Richmond
3   41   Rhan Hooper   Mt Gravatt   Brisbane Lions
3   42   Robert Warnock   Sandringham Dragons   Fremantle

Also renowned as a weak draft was 2003. Adcock is probably the pick of the crop, after that is probably Dawson and Blake (hmmmm......) but the rest were rubbish.

2      32   Brayden Shaw   Northern Knights   Collingwood
2   33   Jed Adcock   North Ballarat Rebels   Brisbane Lions
3   34   Luke Peel   Sandringham Dragons   Port Adelaide
3   35   Brent Hall   South Fremantle Football Club   Collingwood
3      36   Chris Johnson   East Fremantle Football Club   Melbourne
3      37   Thomas Roach   Oakleigh Chargers   Richmond
3      38   Mark Blake   Geelong Falcons   Geelong
3   39   Robert Forster-Knight   Essendon   Port Adelaide
3   40   Eddie Sansbury   Central District Bulldogs   Kangaroos
3   41   Zac Dawson   Calder Cannons   Hawthorn
3   42   Matthew Spencer   Swan Districts Football Club   Geelong

So on all of this data alone, I reckon we are probably a 20 to 25% chance of landing a decent player in this years draft with pick 37. So trading for the serviceable Maric is probably a fair deal.

Adelaide and other clubs know they have a week and are trying to work out 'super-trades' and deals for the 17yo which needs to be finalised today. All other trades on the back burner.
