Unproven to you maybe, id suggest Hartley would maintain it was a qualified decision rather than lucky dip with pick 35.....and guess what he was right
even i was sure he would give us more than graham. still it was a qualified decision on a player who could not crack a regular game.
getting the balance between retaining good picks and trading for players has always been the problem and it is what has killed us over the yrs. taking mature players has not been the problem.
im more than happy to concede hartley got it right but as a general rule of thumb i would not want to see us useing such good picks on unproven players qualified decision or not.
if they cant get the first and second rounders right they shouldnt have a job. we are ow going to have to go out and use a good pick on a ruckman so we can replace maric in the short term.
lets get it straight im not arguing if ivan has turned out to be a good choice he has. but i will always go mad if we are useing second rounders on players who are 26 and struggled that process has and will bite us on the arse more often than not.
list management has been that bad along with recruiting that yes we were in a diabolical situation where we had to trade for a ruckman who would be more competetive than the duds we had/have.
