"I suppose it's being a bit more mature about it, having an end goal and a vision of where I want to be at in two months time, [rather] then being really focused on the present and living and training in the moment," he said.

Coming up to four weeks since the rookie elevations.
The idea of promoting Orren via the LTIL rule looks stronger and stronger.
Still that's what the rule is for so why would we use it.  :banghead

I thought that the LTI option could only be activated at the start of the year so we are only 2 weeks in.  It would mean that we would have to wait another six weeks before we could put Maric into the team!
Makes our move look good. :clapping
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Essendon placed Bellchambers on the LTI List on Feb 10, 2 weeks before Maric went for his op so I don't think thats the case.

Bellchambers placed on long term injury list

Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers has today been placed on the club’s long-term injury list, paving the way for one of the club’s rookies to be elevated to the senior list.

Bellchambers is expected to miss at least the first month of the home and away season after having surgery on his injured left ankle.

The club can now select a rookie-listed player to replace Bellchambers on the senior list.

The Big O will have his work cut out for him this week. Minson was the premier 'crash and bash' ruckman of the league last year. Maric matched up well on Minson in the past and allowed our midfielders to win the ball off their own merit rather than have to rove to the oppositions taps. I  :pray the Big O can create a nil all draw in the middle to allow us a similar luxury.

Not sure what you mean  :huh

Players can be placed on the LTI anytime during the year.

Use Kruzner of the blues as example, he can be out on the LTI now and the Blues can promote a rookie.

We were able to promote 2 rookies before the season started because we are 2 short on our senior list

Can someone definitively clear this up?

Bc some posters(myself included) are of the same opinion as smokey, whereas others like yabb think it works differently. If we could have elevated him when he first did it, then the clubs has been silly, if you can only begin frtom rnd 1 and have to miss at least 8 weeks then the club made the right decision. Can anyone clarify?

My quote was taken from the official Essendon site Tony so I'm assuming if they did it with Bellchambers on Feb 10th then we could have done it with Maric 2 weeks later.

The rules do not stipulate anything about being in the season proper, just that the AFL medical officer must approve that the injury is one that requires at least 8 weeks out
