Dons register interest in premiership Tiger Brandon Ellis (Foxsports)

DONS REGISTER INTEREST IN PREMIERSHIP TIGER

Another club has entered the race for Richmond premiership wingman Brandon Ellis.

Carlton had pursued Ellis fiercely for most of the season before losing interest lately.

Gold Coast has been linked to him for a long time and have reportedly tabled the longest offer.

But now the Herald Sun has reported Essendon is now in the hunt to acquire the star Tiger.

It is understood the Suns have put a four-year offer in front of Ellis, but the Victorian would prefer to remain in Melbourne if a club can come close to matching that deal.

Ellis has played 21 games for Damien Hardwick’s side in 2019.

Exactly right. Can't believe it's taken someone this long to report accurately on his mindset

But he wont' take a pay cut to stay at Richmond right?

So it's about the money then  :huh

I dislike Bellis more than most but even I don’t begrudge the kid a chance to earn more money, as by the sound of it the offers are miles apart.
We simply don’t rate him highly enough to offer him what others like the CG can.

It’s a win for us both ways if you look at it- get rid of Ellis and get a decent pick in return.

One clubs trash is another clubs treasure apparently.  :lol  :lol

It's a job in a lot of ways to them, not for us.

They want the money and I don't blame them.

if anyone offered me a 50% raise to move to a new organisation I'd be gone in a heartbeat!

He wants to stay here, WP. But he'd be a lunatic not to take GC's offer.

He's got his future tot think about and this next contract sets him up for life after footy. If you could get 2.5 mil over 4 years or 1.2mil over 3, what would you choose?

If the offers were close then he'd stay here, but right now it's pretty damn hard for him to ignore what other clubs are offering.

If those ^^ figures are correct, just shows what rubbish Tony Sheehan was talking.

I know we're not offering him anywhere near as much, but he's suggesting we're offering BEllis 200k.

Essendon is only in the market for Ellis because they don't have a first round pick. A free agent is all they can chase as they have no picks of any decent value to offer in the trade market.

Ellis out, compo pick in and r1 2020 Pickett plays the Ellis role.

Won't be the end of the world if he goes  :shh

Can Picket run 16 kms per match?

Would be lucky if he can run 12kms.

Wingers need big tanks with our game plan and Picket doesn't have one.

In the last two VFL finals Picket has only put in one very good quarter.

Ellis allows more midfield rotations for our key players as he doesn't require the rest that those players need, Picket will not.

Might have a big tank but I’d prefer him to get to less contests. Glass witches hats display more courage and defensive pressure than Ellis!

ellis was garbage against the lions, that is 100% true, but i was at the vfl and saw nothing in pickett that he gets a call up this late in the season.

would accept mcintosh to replace ellis for reasons given above re: tank, but not pickett yet for me
