No way they did that it will be pick 20 and pick 40 something stuff that

Sorry boys it was pick 20 and 45 and the Pies in exchange gave Dawes and pick 58

I thought I heard Dees gave their first pick and I was in stitches.

I still am. Dawes is no way worth a 2nd and 3rd rounder and $500K a year.

Good luck if you can get it.

Did they end up going with the $500k? Because that's over $1mill into their forward line a year in two potatoes.

You couldn't have watched Clark this year pre injury.

What a gun he is.

Bad delivery and he just took over.

The guy is a serious player.

You're right, I only saw him playing post-injury.

Dawes at best is an average player. He won't have the delivery he got from the Collingwood mids now. A really questionable decision.

Pick 20 is a first round pick and that's how the media painting it - a first round draft pick for Dawes

But agree he isn't worth it or $500k a year

He can play, showed that one season, never backed it up though. Challenge for him is to back it up.

I've done some research and now know the reason why the Dee's picked Dawes. Here is a recent little known Q&A of Mark Neeld I found whilst trawling the internet...

Mark, what is your All Time Favorite Movie?

What is your favorite band of all time?

What is your favorite store to shop at?

Favorite book?

Favorite place to eat?

The Demons are going to come out of draft with Viney for a steal, pick 4 and Hogan, who is rated as a top pick next year..... BUT

They overpaid for Dawes, they overpaid for the Hogan/Barry package deal. Yes they got pick 20 back, but Barry isn't rated too highly and was expected to go in the 3rd/4th round of the draft. Hogan could also be overtaken by other kids in 2013 and could drop down the draft pecking order. Melbourne have either got a gun, or a guy that may have slipped into the 10s or 20s next draft for pick 3.

I don't think they have much idea what they are doing to be honest, when you look at what we have done for minimal cost. Morris, Maric, Grigg, Houli, Chaplin and Knights for pick 37, a 1 spot pick downgrade, Andrew Collins and a PSD pick.

Agree with the above although I think that the event has caused clubs to scrutinize the videos of his past games too. In doing that they would have found a guy with a soft underbelly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYfikS08RUg

Maybe they should look at his other videos.  In doiing that, they would have found someone who can kick a 60m bomb in a grand final.

I found the comment "would have won a norm smith medal if not injured" from a Hawthorn supporter interesting.  Most likely why there are 5 clubs into him.  Hard to understand why Richmond would not be.
