Feel for Chris Knights. The look on his face on Sat night when he was on the bench said it all.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

As soon asI saw his wierd kicking style swinging his lower leg through like its a pendulum,  I figured he would be injury prone.

Knights was just on 3aw:

* He was asked if he had played enough VFL games before returning to senior footy. He said he did everything required at VFL level. He can speak with experience that the adjustment in intensity from VFL to AFL level is huge now. Everything we do at training is done to replicate what we do out on the ground each week. The increase in intensity is causing more injuries across all clubs.

* They then got onto the topic of going back to no interchanges as a means to lower the intensity at AFL level (as a means to reduce injuries). Knights said with no interchange, you'd be forced to stay out on the ground for the whole game like Soccer and him as a HF for example would then have to pick and choose what contests he would go to. Leigh Matthews later on said would the public handle now a slower game after getting use to the modern fast game which is an attraction. If you go back and watch games from his era, the thing you notice is how slow they are.

* Knights said wants to comeback but he's going to be gentle about it mentally. Diagnosis is 10-12 weeks according to the Doc but he's hoping if he can get back within 8 weeks he'll be very happy.

* As far as the team as a whole - we've been knocked around by injuries at unfortunate times during games this year which hasn't helped.

* Insipid comment was directed at the performance on the day; not at what the playing group can produce. Our tackling and other KPI stats were up in the first half but for whatever reason we just didn't adjust to the changing conditions and Melbourne ran away from us. We're still 2-2 though and if you win 54% of your games then you play finals.

'I haven't played my last game': Knights

LUCKLESS Richmond forward Chris Knights insists he'll play again despite another serious injury setback.

Knights began running on Saturday after having surgery on his hamstring in April.

It was the latest blow in what has been an awful past few years for the ex-Crow.

"I know that I haven't played my last game of football and I'm looking forward to coming back and just enjoying football at any level,” Knights told radio station 3AW.

"I feel like I have an obligation to the team to help out the young players and train hard … I want to come back and play AFL football but I'm going to be gentle in how I manage it mentally."

Knights tore the patella tendon off the bone during his first season at Punt Road (2013) after crossing from West Lakes, requiring season-ending surgery.

In May last year he underwent further surgery to remove a piece of floating bone from the knee, resulting in another 12-week stint on the sidelines before a quad strain again ruled him out.

This weekend marks Knights' second on the sidelines with his latest injury.

While the average return time for the surgery he had ranged between 10-12 weeks, he hoped to be available for selection in eight.

That could see Knights line up against West Coast in round 12 after the Tigers' bye.

Chris Knights also spoke at the Inner Sanctum prematch today.

People can say what they like about him as player, debate whether he was a good FA pick up or whether he should try and comeback

But listening to him today I have to say he is a brilliant team mate and team player. He has a fantastic attitude and when you consider his injuries for him to maintain the attitude he has is a credit to him.

If he decides to walk away from the game at seasons end the RFC could do a lot worse to keep him on as a development coach. Kids coming through could learn a lot from this bloke, attitude, application, dedication and a team first mantra

Have great respect for him after listening to him today  :clapping

I don't feel sorry for anyone who got paid a million dollars for doing very little (which wasn't his fault)

IMO it was the  biggest waste of 1 million dollars  I have ever seen the club spend on. They knew the risks and wasted it on a crippled bloke who was as fast as my grandma.

Actually I take that back second was hammer with Foley third.

I don't know the bloke but let's be honest most guys would be nice on our list. We are not a charity case get some real grunt in there, and maybe just maybe someone with experience as dimwit needs some challenging
Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Richmond has re-instated Chris Knights to the senior list from the long-term injury list.
