Stick with Vlastuin seeing as we don't know Tippett's status yet. 8)

15. North Melbourne – Dayle Garlett

Height: 180cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 9/1/1994

Recruited from: Swan Districts

Well what can we say other than we are absolutely wrapped that this young man has slipped to our first pick. North are in the market for midfield depth and small crumbing forward types, and Garlett fits this mould. He is a highly talented player that can play both inside and outside midfield, and kicks goals when thrown forward. Plays with flair and has the X-Factor which Norths other mids tend to lack, so we see Dayle complimenting our existing midfield.

A high risk but high reward proposition and one which at pick 15 we couldn't pass up given his massive potential upside.

As an added bonus, Dayle has a large extended family and given Norths financial situation, drafting Dayle will have a positive effect on membership numbers.

Geelong Pick #16......Josh Simpson

Name: Josh Simpson
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Age (by draft day): 18
Height: 183cm
Weight: 72kg

Quick Notes on Josh Simpson
Lightning quick
Kicks goals
Hard to tackle
Great acceleration
Uses the football well
Will attack the footy and the man as required
Dual sided
Slight build

Josh Simpson in detail

Josh Simpson will be rated very differently from club to club, which makes it hard to get a read on where he will get drafted.

Simpson’s evasiveness is probably his biggest strength, he has that rare combination of acceleration and agility which makes him dangerous in any situation. Once he gets himself outside of the contest his ability to use the football also shines.

The question marks around Simpson are related to his build and his ability to compete physically at AFL level. I suspect that Simpson will always be a light build but his attack on the contest and the man appears to improve every time I see him, I don’t envision Simpson having any trouble transitioning to AFL level.

I’d be shocked if Simpson isn’t drafted in the top 20 and expect him to be gone by the time pick 15 comes around.

I sent him an email over the weekend so he must be having a long weekend away  ;D

If he's not back by say 2pm today then someone else can choose Collingwood's picks 18 & 19 to get this phantom draft going again.
