Richmond great Matthew Richardson has totally endorsed the Tigers’ decision to re-sign veteran Kamdyn McIntosh for a further year.

“It’s good news that McIntosh will be continuing at Richmond next season,” Richardson said.”

“Given the retirements and exodus of so many experienced players throughout the past few years, it leaves us now with only Nick Vlastuin, Dion Prestia and Tom Lynch as 200-game players on the playing list.

“McIntosh, currently on 190 games, can join them this year, and what a great achievement that would be for the ultimate team man.

“The dual premiership Tiger’s experience, but also, most importantly, his training standards and ability to bring teammates together during the week, will be vital with a young playing group moving forward.

“He is a culture-setter around the Club, which is a vital factor, and he’s an extremely popular character as well with his sense of fun and adventure.

“On game day, you know he will play whatever role is asked of him by senior coach Adam Yze, and always give it 100 percent.

“The new batch of young players coming to Tigerland soon, via the national draft, will undoubtedly benefit by having Kamdyn McIntosh alongside them as they start their AFL journeys.”

Richo gets it.

Many others have said the same things.

Wonder if the haters who thinks they know better will take note.

Think we could do worse than Kamdyn. Writing is on wall he's not part of our next best 22. But you can't play a 22 draftees, id prefer him not to play every week but we will need these types until we have a solid core of new talent driving the bus.
Go Tigers!

..We need some experience around the place

We have alot of kids coming in and we need senior players to support them and teach them about being an AFL player

And sometimes it's not just about how many games someone may or not play. Sometimes it's about needing to keep good, popular team first players, heart and soul players who form a significant part of a CLub's culture. I see Kam as that type of player.

We had 3 senior leaders (3 players from the leadership group) walk out on the Club during the FA and trade period. Kam chose not to was prepared to wait to see if he got offered a contract, he wants to be a one club player. He can teach the kids. Can't see how that's a bad thing TBBH

Well said WP. A lot of seem to miss the importance of what a bloke like KMac mean to a club.
Look back to when Whale Roberts was traded Sth Melbourne & the effect that had on us.

Lol so now the cut off point to be called experienced is 200 games.
We have plenty of experienced players. How many times does it need to be done.

Nankervis, Lynch, Prestia who we also kept for experience, Short who they keep playing, Broad, Vlastuin, Balta has over 100 games Ross, Hopper, Taranto, Kossie, Mansell, Lefau, Young, Miller. Are all mature players aged 24 or more. 9 of em have at least 100 games and the majority of the rest have been on the list for 3 or more years.

Experinced is an excuse Richo is entitled to his opinion but boy i rarely ever listen to what he has to say because he is always wrong.

Simply put the argument is not about experience its about how well he plays what he actually brings on game day and the biggie to be asked is he taking the spot away from a kid simply because of sentiment.

On All three he gets a fail.
Why would it have been so hard to keep him around the club in some sort of capacity without putting him on the list.

He would have made a good leader for all the kids that are coming playing VFL.

Mate i get plenty wrong but on this i think im right.

I have already shot the we need him for experience call down. Something his defenders just plain ignore.
We are not bereft of mature and experienced players.
There is no call for us to keep him solely for that reason. In fact it is wrong.

There is nothing but he is good around the club and he has high training standards. That is the pro's for giving him another year on the list. Thanks but no thanks for me.

Another question given the two things they think we need to keep him for, why would we not get him off the list as we are wasting a spot and denying someone a go on the list  and find a role for him him within the club either coaching or even playing VFL.

Iv'e been  happy to go into his form, his stats his foibles on field and the players who need to be tried in his role. All just ignored so why bother again. it does not suit the pro crowd and will just be ignored again.  At least i list good reasons why we should not keep him all i get back is the spurious oh he is good around the club and he trains hard.

Mate given that you went salty and MIA when we got the 2017 flag after all the nonsense you said beforehand I think we can agree you get plenty wrong from time to time and maybe aren't the best judge of where the club is at culturally etc.

I think the club is better positioned now than it has been most of the last 40 years.

If they see benefit and value in keeping KMac I agree and support their decision.
