On exposed form so far we're way off the pace

how do you figure TM, how have our rivals for a 4-8 spot fared against COLL- FREO and CATS...none of them will beat them

we are no where near being able to finish 4th and to be honest the way we are playing at the moment we are a long way from 8th. If we lose to Port next week our season will be just about gone. Seen this same movie too many times. Wasted opportunities, the rot sets in and the players give it up. Season ends. No Finals. Thats how it always pans out.

Not normally after 6 rounds though!!

Kangas who made finals last year instead of us.
Lost to Collingwood by 16
Lost to Geelong by 4 points (dubious free kick to Bartel to kick winner)
Lost to Sydney by 39 points
Won by 63 points v brissy
Lost to hawks by 3 points
Beat Port by 10 points.

Doing a little better than us I reckon.

And on the back of a 161 to 118 free kick advantage - nothing like doing what they can to counter the effects of a less than perfect draw.

As an update, with Adelaide and Carlton still to play
Before the season started, 5 "locks" for the Top 8:-
Magpies, Hawks, Swans, Cats and the Eagles.
Eagles no longer a sure thing, which opens up 4 spots and I'd now like to nominate Collingwood as a side in trouble with inferior percentage and the Swans and Cats in the next month - they may not be in the 8 before the bye

Current status
1. Essendon 24 points 121.4%
2. Power 20 points 122.9%
3. Freo 16 points 114.9%
4. Richmond 16 points 107.9%
5. Collingwood 16 points 95%

6. Carlton 12 points 114.3%* should be 16 points after today
7. Eagles 12 points 112.6%
8. Kangas 12 points 109.5%
9. Crows 8 points 97.1%* should be 12 points after today

Bombres have an interesting month before the bye with us, blues and swans being tricky games.
Dreamtime is going to be massive.
Power also have some tricky games before their bye, we might be ahead of them on the ladder. Can see them falling from contention in the next 8-9 rounds
Freo have swans, demons and crows, win these and it's sets up their season. Damn us for losing that one
Blues will win their next 4 unless the saints can pull one out - they are an obvious danger now
West Coast on current form probably win 2 of their next 4 - we must beat them at the G
Kangas probably win their next 4
Crows will fall from contention unless the can beat kangas and win the obvious ones in the next month
I reckon we have to win 2 of our next 3 and ideally beat the Bombers too.
We win 2 games and this ladder will probably feature 4-6 clubs on 24 points at the bye.
% is going to be absolutely vital this year.

Before the season started, 5 "locks" for the Top 8:-
Magpies, Hawks, Swans, Cats and the Eagles.
Elfin Pies  :banghead
I'm going to leave Pies and Eagles in this mini ladder for the time being

Current status
1. Essendon 24 points 142%
2. Freo 22 points 113%
3. Power 20 points 117%
4. Richmond 20 points 112%
5. Collingwood 20 points 97%

6. Crows 16 points 124%
7. Blues 16 points 112.6%
8. Weagles  16 points 111%
9. Norf 12 points 108%

If we lose and Crows, Blues, Weagles and Pies win - which is very possible, we fall 4 spots on this makeshift ladder.
On the other hand, if we can give the Bombres a decent touch up they could fall 3 spots.

Thing with west coke is they've lost 3 at home, and still have Sydney and Geelong at home and the Freo reverse fixture. Will need to win all of those and beat teams like Collingwood and Hawthorn on the road. They've got Carlton again but at Etihad so that will be like a mini-final because they'll be around similar positions. It's a massive ask but if we can knock them off in two weeks it will be too far for them to come back from  :cheers
