I feel stupid for carrying on but i guess it was just an honest re-action from my thespian side.

I had a family member break every bone in the right side of her body when she lost control of
her car and wrapped it around a telegraph pole.
Seeing not only her,but all the other patients in the rehab clinic is a sight that will
be with me forever.
For some reason I assumed Browns injury to be like this.

Not your thespian side, is you human side, Oxman.
Being so far away and not knowing what’s going on, and having a favourite player struck down like this, bound to bring up memories.  I’m sorry I put that reference to being like a car accident which brought up this memory for you, but that’s how it was described. I hope your relative is ok now.

I used to be tough, but then i realised we all die.

Afraid so – just live it to the best you can while you’re here.

And i'm feeling more and more confident now that I've heard Nathan - he is only little, but a tough little bugger  :thumbsup

I work in Opertaing Theatres as a Technician, and i see these injuries come into our Ortho Theatre all the time... its very common, and most ppl make a full recovery.. as its not a mechanical part of the body as much as the knee is.. i would rather he snap his leg than do an ACL,  a few of the Ortho surgeons at work were talking about it and they beleive he will make a solid recovery..

i think we just assume the worst because it hurts so much... so we try and talk ourselves into a life without Brown at Tigerland...

he will be back... better than ever...

im gonna lay 100$ on Brown to win the brownlow 2006! :)

Well after all the emotion has died down, I am feeling really guilty.
Once I heard Nathan was going to be fine (fingers crossed) I found myself wishing it had been one of our lesser lights :-[ How bad is that. Not that I would have wished it upon anyone, but if it had to be one, perhaps some one who wasnt firing so well. I'm putting this badly..........if I was a church going person I'd go to confession and confess to being a nasty nasty person :banghead

Actually 2JD, I had the same thought. I missed the incident on telly, and when I saw this topic, I thought geez I hope its Foley. I'm obviously a very bad young man, but somehow, especially when you don't live in Melbourne and attend live games, the players can become plastic soldiers to you.

Well kids,I must be getting old and soft.

I was just shattered at the severity of the collision and break
and kind of tuned out for 24 hrs.
Cant say I wished it in anyone, especially Brown :lol

When Browny's leg broke I just felt gutted like most Tiger supporters (hence the season over thread  :-[) but feeling more positive today after hearing it was clean break and his surgery has gone well with the doctors expecting Browny to make a full recovery. That's the main thing after all. By round 1 next year hopefully this will just be a temporary blip in Richmond's rebuilding phase.

One positive (if you can have one in Browny's circumstances) is that he broke his right leg and not his dominant kicking left leg. So his shooting for goal (in terms of making distances) should be unaffectd you would think. Brendan Lade after he broke his leg twice in two seasons came back and lost about 10m in terms of kicking power (sounds bad but he could kick the footy 65m before the injury so 55m afterwards is still a long kick).

1993 - I got hit by a car kingswood) crossing the road. The was doing about 60.
Side-on impact. Fractured Tibia and Fibula. After regaining conciousness, (and being unaware of my leg being shattered) I was telling the people around that I was fine and wanted to get up. Then the pain kicked in. And oh my how it hurt.

Browny's reaction on Friday night was an inspiration.
He is truly a man with the biggest gonads in football.

Aside from calcification around the break, the leg will heal fine. Muscular atrophy will be biggest problem. This is not as bad as an ACL.

Browny will be back, and he has my full support.

Football fan feels Tiger Brown's pain
Michael Warner

A FOOTSCRAY woman received serious head injuries after collapsing at the gruesome sight of Richmond star Nathan Brown's broken leg.

Kasey Burnham, 25, blacked out and struck her head on a window sill and tiled floor while watching the Channel 9 broadcast at home on Friday night.
She received bleeding to the brain and is in a satisfactory condition at The Alfred hospital.

At least one other Melbourne woman required treatment after fainting over the horrific final-quarter incident.

Brown snapped the tibia and fibula in his right leg after an attempted spoil by Melbourne Demons' defender Matthew Whelan.

Whelan said later that he felt sick to the stomach when realising the extent of Brown's injury.

The Richmond forward has since had surgery to insert a 40cm metal rod into his leg and will be sidelined until next season.

Ms Burnham's father Warwick said his daughter collapsed without warning while watching the game with her boyfriend.

"She has a weak stomach . . . but it was a bit of a shock over something as simple as that," he said. "She certainly won't be watching it again."

He said ambulance workers who treated her said another woman in the Footscray area had also fainted after seeing the incident on television.

Ms Burnham is expected to make a full recovery.

:gobdrop :gobdrop her injuries could have ended up worse than Browny's

It's good to hear some positive reports suggesting that he'll make a full recovery. It will be a tremendous effort if he does.

I'd be happy if he gets back to 90-95 percent of what he was.

lmfaoo@Jake hoping Foley copped it.
