Most of the good sides are playing two genuine rucks.

Hawks - McEvoy and Hale
Cats - McIntosh and Simpson (with Blicavs as sub!)
Sydney - Pyke and Derickx
Freo - Sandilands and Hannath
WCE - Cox and Naitanui

So I think it's surely a winning combination to play two. And whilst Griff and Vickery may be serviceable neither appear to be genuine rucks. So IMO we should play Hampson and Maric. If Griff or Vickery are dropped that's unfortunate but so be it.

Maybe Griff as sub? lol

Some are playing 3.
West Coast have Cox, Nic Nat and either Lycette or Sinclair.
Hawthorn have Hale, McEvoy and use Roughead around the ground like Griff.
Geelong have the three you mentioned.
Freo have Sandilands, Hannath and often play a third tall.

I think it depends on how good your extra big man is around the ground. Griff has shown he can more than ruck. He can take grabs and is good when the ball hits the deck and is a great field kick. He also lays more tackles than many of his team mates.

I don't think Hampson will be much better than he is now, and unfortunately that's not real good.
He's never played more than 15 games in a season in 7 years (15 games max back in 2009).
I think he was just the best available experienced ruckman around during the draft period.

Unless the Tigers can get him to play a hell of a lot more games, then IMO he is only filling in until we get a great ruckman, which hopefully won't be too long.

Whose advantage were those little over the shoulder taps too? Mainly Brisbane's when they finally sussed it out after he did it for the third time in a row.

Tom Nicholls - young but good up and coming ruck
Spud Warnock - the same spud that destroyed us after half time in the elimination final giving Judd and co. an armchair ride.
Injured against the doggies.
Brodie Grundy - subbed out as he was beaten by Hampson and wasn't doing anything around the ground
Beat Trent West hands down and many were saying what a great pick he was but the Lions.

The guy is an excellent tap ruck man.  Needs to improve his around the ground work……a lot.

The stats are to advantage.  They do not include those to the opposition.

I agree too, was just wondering aloud about those particular instances where he clearly overplayed his hand.

Was actually almost serviceable around the ground last night....almost.

Bit harsh Angus. I recon he goes alright when it comes to his ruckwork and I've watched him pretty closely because I never wanted him anywhere near us. But credit where credit is due, he has been better than I thought he could be in the ruck. Needs to contribute around the ground though as most would agree.
Although most ruck men are pretty useless when it comes to getting a kick. Only a couple of decent ruckmen in the league that do more than just contest the ruckwork. Far from our worst.

Agree, it's not hard to find things wrong with the a Tigers ATM but this isn't a problem.
He's a work in progress but it's a bit like a key forward - I'd take 4 goals per game from Jack first and then the other stuff. Given our past challenges in the ruck, I'll take those hit outs to advantage and now look to his improved around the ground play.
Will be a good contest against big boy McEvoy next week.
