if you send a player out with the sole intention of stopping an opponent from getting a kick and no concern with getting possessions yourself, i think most would agree that is tagging.

but what if you send out a player with instructions to run with an opponent, let him take you to the ball, but then try to win that ball yourself?

Its a subtle difference, but imo, an important one.

Actually not a subtle difference at all - one has no intention of getting the ball while the other out sources the ball hunting  ;D
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

morris to yarran - hunt to gibbs. these are the two that will kill ya with ball use. let miles go head to head with murphy  and martin/deledio head to head with judd. hope cotchin can get a good matchup and then  hope the rest of the  midfield nuffies can do a job.

I hope he works out but im not confident. Geelong delisted him.
Lets hope that makes him a consistent contributor for us. :pray

Yeah but he's a better class of reject, I mean a Geelong reject should at least be an upgrade from the usual Melbourne or pre-Hinkley Port rejects.

Good debut for the Tiges by Hunt. Leading possession getter and just as importantly used it well (85% efficiency).

Great pickup considering we paid nothing for him.

Adds toughness. Don't mind seeing him and Miles in there + one more bloke. Frees up the cream to play F50.

after comments on league teams i think, i watched for his run and he shows many of our blokes up for deep two way running.  i still think his disposal is ordinary despite the stat saying he was good tonight.

we have a bloke who can find a little bit of ball but first and foremost we have a bloke who can run with most players and apply pressure.foot soldier who performs an important role.

27 Possies tonight. Not bad for a footy reject.  I agree his disposal can lack polish but nearly everyone on the field lacked polish tonight. Maybe its the early season rust, maybe it was the game style of the two teams.

Only one giving us a chance out of half back in that first quarter. Great pick up, plays a good role.
