When I went past Punt Rd on the train today they had ripped up some of the turf that the day before was covered. Looks like some of it will need to be relaid.

The weirdest part of the ground is where the concrete guttering comes right up to the Punt Rd footpath (you can see it in one of the photos). Firstly the oval level is about a foot lower than the footpath level so hello potential lawsuit if there's no fencing. If the wire fencing is to remain then spectators won't be able to walk around outside of the oval where this concrete guttering is.

These seem to be very serious concerns and if true then its becoming in the finest sense a fiasco. For the money spent things need to have been better organised and planned. If these things are true then heads should roll. You cant spend in excess of a million bucks of members funds and have this type of stuff.

The yellow grass is the area that has been ripped up. It must have not taken and died and so needs to be relaid.

The concrete guttering that is right up against the Punt Rd footpath can be seen to the right in this pic:

Realistically the ground even when finished will be unsuitable for VFL games in its present state. There's no separate away changerooms and showers for a visiting team and umpires (the RFC museum will be under the old grandstand where the old rooms were) while the concrete guttering part alongside Punt Rd gives the impression the new realigned oval was designed to be purely a training ground rather than one that hosts lower grade matches.

Maybe these are questions for the Board at the upcoming AGM?

Was at Punt Road last night for a Tommy Hafey Club Function and in the car park there was quite of number of rolls of new turf ready to be put down. There were a number of blokes pulling up some of the turf at 6.30pm  ;D

As for it being suitable for VFL matches I wouldn't worry about that as they have over 12 months to sort through all those logistics. I would think the biggest issue is there are no public tiolets  ;D

The newly laid grass doesn't look too bad now in the view of the oval in Williams' interview ...

Checked it out on Tuesday night

The area down the Brunton Avenue is looking good as it looks "knitted"

The area near the Car park end which was relaid still looks a bit scratchie as it clearly hasn't knitted yet but certainly was looking nice & green, plenty of watering from this new re-cycled water set up they have + plus some good old fashioned rain and it should be good to go mid January

Looks like we're getting a bit of rain in the coming days, too.
