That article says we will play hard ball on the trade terms. Isn't Vickery a free agent though?  8)

Yeah I dunno what they mean. We could force them to trade for him, but that could be a risky move as they'd offer him around the 5's to get him across and it might mean we'd have to pay him that much if he decided to stay with us. Not sure what compo we'd get but I doubt it would be anything better than end of first round (which all things considered would be stuffing excellent).

End of first/start of second would be a big win I reckon.

Payback for Hamspud.

Rumours abound that Hurley was offered big money by "a club" and he was considering it till Essendon upped the ante and now is likely to stay. So they may have been told by Hurley's management that he is staying and now our club is looking elsewhere...... :whistle

So we increase our offer accordingly. Flex our mythical War chest
Agreed. Increase the offer so he cannot say no.

According to Barrett last night:

Hurley is 50/50 to stay at Essendon. Six clubs are interested in him. North & Bulldogs are the latest ones. Barrett feels Hurley will stay at Essendon despite the issues he and his family have relating back to the supplement saga.

Rockliff's future won't be sorted out until end of season. Adelaide interested.

Victorian clubs are interested in Crow Brad Crouch, which would free up salary cap space for Adelaide to poach Rockliff.

Sydney are willing to offer Mason Wood $500k p.a. to move from Arden St.

Dion Prestia will be sidelined longer than first expected.

Prestia missed the Suns' 48-point loss to the Bulldogs in Cairns on Saturday night and Eade was unsure how long the out-of-contract playmaker would be missing from his injury-ravaged side.

Prestia was listed as a test on the club’s injury list in the days leading up to the Bulldogs clash.

"(Dion's) going to Melbourne to see a surgeon on Monday (and) he might have a clean up of his knee," Eade said.

"At this stage we don't know long (he'll be sidelined), but it should only be a short amount of time."

-----------------------

Eade played down fears O'Meara had suffered a setback in his recovery, with the star youngster pulling up tight in the calf and hamstrings in his third NEAFL game back from a serious knee injury.

Also out of contract at season's end, the 22-year-old sat out the second half of the game as a precaution after collecting 18 disposals and kicking a goal.

"He could have played the second half, but there's no reason to risk (him)." Eade said.

Just out of curiosity, what are you basing that post on?
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”
