Someone might want to tell Dan and Blair that trade week is on.  Just quietly.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

GWS' James Stewart told the club he wants a trade to Essendon. Stewart will get to Essendon in exchange for either a late pick or via the pre-season draft, where the Bombers have the first pick.

The Bombers also say that talks with Melbourne over a trade for Michael Hibberd have made little progress.

Collingwood are interested in picking up Fremantle's Alex Silvagni, after defender Nathan Brown departed the club for the Saints. The Pies are also interested in Melbourne's Lynden Dunn.

And Xavier Richards' agent arrived in Melbourne today to begin discussions with several Victorian clubs.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-trade-period-2016-live-coverage-day-seven-20161017-gs4jas.html

Gold Coast and Hawthorn were likely to head into mediation over Jaeger O'Meara.

Collingwood will trade pick Jarrod Witts to Gold Coast for pick 44, with the Pies to get a bit back in return.

The Bryce Gibbs deal could involve Adelaide's pick 13 and their second-round pick next year.Under another scenario Adelaide would hand over next year's first-round pick in addition to 13 this year, and get Carlton's 2017 second-round pick back. For the Crows, that would mean sliding down the 2017 draft order rather than giving up a full selection. If Carlton secure pick 13 from the Crows, GWS will request that pick alone for defender Caleb Marchbank. A separate deal would then need to be done for Jarrod Pickett.

Brisbane are committed to trading for Collingwood defender Jack Frost and may need to use a future pick.

Fremantle must now work a deal with Geelong for forward Shane Kersten, a close friend of Hamling, while the Bulldogs will trade midfielders Koby Stevens and Nathan Hrovat.

The Dogs will also send a late draft pick to Collingwood for forward Travis Cloke.

A number of clubs are waiting to see which clubs end up with which picks, hoping to move further up the draft order.

Collingwood's trade period should at least cheer us up.....

Jaeger O’Meara could be forced to nominate for the AFL national draft

Jay Clark
Herald Sun
October 19, 2016

HAWTHORN could walk away from negotiations with Gold Coast over midfielder Jaeger O’Meara in a move that could force the Suns’ star into the national draft.

Talks between the two clubs have slowed to a halt with the Suns yet to accept the Hawks’ two top picks, which are No. 10 and No. 48, for O’Meara.

Hawthorn believe a first-round and third-round pick is a fair deal for a player who has not played a single senior game over the past two seasons due to serious knee injuries.

FMD GCS playing hardball for somebody who is properly injury-prone compared to Prestia. Really driving a hard bargain for their players...
