Why stop there?
Might as well sack Hardwick too.
What is the point of having him infect our new assistants with his 'brand' of footy, which consists of copying styles of footy that don't suit the team or that are way past their use by date, when he will probably get sacked half way through next year anyway.
It could get ugly and leave these fresh assistants exposed. Just sack him now.

Also, I hope Ernst and Young have recommended that someone different hires the assistants this time.
And how funny is the line by Caro that Francis Jackson is under pressure? Really, 3 first round picks playing in the reserves, he should have been the first one shown the door.
