I thought he was good. He ran 100 metres to continue to apply pressure on their backs at one stage. He delivered the ball twice with class into the 50 in decisive moments in the 3rd only to have the first reversed with a free. He is important as he doesn’t need more than a few touches to create mayhem.... :shh
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Shai Bolton – 5

Not called on to do a whole heap. Forward-half pressure was immense and his great first-quarter tackle to win the ball back for the Tigers led to Dustin Martin's first goal. Kicked a goal of his own in the fourth term to cap a solid game.

SHAI BOLTON 6.5

Had flashes of his trademark speed and flair and had more guts than brains at times, but he just makes it work. Definitely wasn’t overawed in his first Grand Final experience and finished with a goal.

Kane Cornes' 18 breakout players for 2020

By SEN
15 Jan 2020

Richmond

Shai Bolton
Age: 21
Games: 28

“Bolton is already a premiership player so you could argue that he has broken out somewhat but will take his game to new levels in 2020 which is frightening for Richmond’s rivals.

“Went at just under a goal per game so there is room for improvement on the goal front to head towards the numbers of the likes of Eddie Betts, Stephen Milne and Michael Walters at around two goals a game.

“But his tackling and pressure for a small forward is already elite.”

With his clean skills and balance in the air and at ground level he will kick a big bag (6+) one day.

The player at your club poised for a breakout season – when the break is over

April 3, 2020 1:02pm
Josh Gabelich and David Zita
FOX SPORTS

RICHMOND – SHAI BOLTON

Bolton had an impressive pre-season after 19 games for the yellow-and-black in 2019 included his first AFL premiership. If round one was anything to go by, Bolton looks to be playing for keeps in 2020; he was at his dynamic best booting 3 goals and taking 6 marks to help the Tigers get over the Blues. Frightening to think Richmond could get even better in 2020, and they will if Bolton capitalises on his form so far.

I think Bolton had about 5 centre clearances last night.

Dimma mentioned Bolton still needs to work on his fitness. He's exciting and started extremely well but faded slightly as the game went along.

Shai has gone to another level since moved into the middle thanks to our injuries. Just needs now to build up his tank to play in the guts across 4 qtrs.

Been our best player by far in the past 4 weeks.
The only real standout this year I reckon.
