Injury list: Who's stuck in the medical room at your club

RICHMOND

Jack Graham (hamstring tendon, 1-2 weeks): The draftee has a history of quad issues but this time it was his hamstring to cause him concern. Being so young, the club is being conservative with his recovery but he should be back in the main group soon.

Steven Morris
(ACL, 12-16 weeks): The hard-nosed defender is in the rehab group after rupturing the ACL in his right knee against North Melbourne in round 11 last year. He is progressing well and may return slightly ahead of schedule.

Dion Prestia (knee, 2-3 weeks): Surgery ended his 2016 season but the former Gold Coast onballer is doing plenty and is not far away from joining full training.

Others
Star forward Jack Riewoldt joined the main group before Christmas but earlier had a right ankle reconstruction and had the little finger on his right hand operated on twice. Corey Ellis and Ben Griffiths are back after groin troubles.

RICHMOND

The Tigers have close to a clean bill of health after coming through their first JLT Series game unscathed — a nice change from last year’s pre-season train wreck.

Alex Rance missed the win against Adelaide with hamstring tendinitis but he will play against Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Bachar Houli (hamstring), Jack Graham (hamstring) and Shaun Hampson (back) haven’t been sighted in serious pre-season hitouts but the injuries are not believed to be serious.

Steve Morris is making good progress in his comeback from knee surgery.

Dion Prestia had a late start to pre-season and will sit out Sunday’s game in Mt Gambier as the Tigers manage his preparation for Round 1.

Injury update - 01/03/2017

Steve Morris (knee, 6-8 weeks): Remains in the rehab group after his right knee ACL repair in June. Morris is progressing well and targeting a round four return, with a VFL appearance slated for round one or two.

Bachar Houli (hamstring, 2 weeks):
Has endured an interrupted pre-season due to a problematic hamstring that keeps tightening up. The Tigers are confident he’ll gain some practice-match minutes in their final pre-season game against Collingwood on March 11.

Jack Graham (hamstring, 4 weeks):
Despite his history of quad issues, it’s been a hamstring that’s hampered the draftee’s first pre-season. Remains up to a month away from playing with the club to remain conservative with his management.

Others
Alex Rance has been dealing with hamstring tendinitis but will be named to face Port Adelaide on Sunday in a bid to get ready for the season opener on March 23, but Shaun Hampson could struggle to be fit in time to face his old side Carlton with back tightness an on-going concern. - Jennifer Phelan

RICHMOND

Another win and another clean sheet on the injury front from the Tigers after two JLT Series games.

Ben Griffiths rolled his ankle against Port Adelaide but played on and David Astbury returned and was among Richmond’s best after limping to the bench early in the game.

Dion Prestia was rested but will return against Collingwood on Saturday.

Shaun Hampson (back) and Bachar Houli (hamstring) remain unsighted so far this pre-season and are running out of time to get up for Round 1.

Sounds like Ben Lennon
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I like the 'cut of Graham's jib'. Looked fit and strong in the stand chatting with Rioli at the VFL praccy match.

Had a chat to Jack Graham at the season launch.

Impressive young man.

Definitely playing the VFL practice game Thursday night

Kudos to the fitness and medicos for taking the ultra conservative approach with his hamstring problem. Perhaps they have seen the light

Peter Burge's injury report:

Morris to return via VFL

Morris, 28, has been sidelined since Round 11 of last season - when he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Richmond’s Physical Performance Manager, Peter Burge confirmed Morris would line-up in Thursday's VFL hit-out against Collingwood VFL at Punt Road Oval.

Tickets are still available for our opening home game against Collingwood, from $25 (Adults), $17 (Concession) and $5 (Children).

"Steve's attacked his training the way he attacks games, he’s hard at it and he’s done such a great job," Burge said.

"We really look forward to having him back playing football."

Burge also provided an update on Shaun Hampson's back injury.

"We’ve identified the specific area that’s giving him the issue and he trained (on Sunday) with the group," he said.

"He’s still got some things that he needs to progress with and he’s got some time to do it. We’re looking at hopefully the second two thirds of the year (to see) him playing."

Richmond youngster Jack Graham joined Hampson on the Club's long-term injury list, after the 19-year-old injured his left ankle during a training session last Tuesday.

"He was in a drill and sort of fell on his ankle and got caught up in a bad position and ended up with a little fracture in the bottom of his tibia, a little bit of ligament damage," Burge said.

"That fracture is going to need a little bit of time, it’s at least an eight-week injury which is so disappointing, he was going to play his first game in the VFL last Thursday, so terrible news."

Burge also confirmed no Tigers were injured in last Thursday night's win over Carlton.

Say what you want about his playing ability, it's good to hear someone like Morris who tries his hardest and bleeds for the club is making his comeback and his knee is healthy :clapping

Ran off the field at the open training session, didn't stop to sign the autograph of a small boy who yelled out his name. "Doing weights now" he said as he ran off.
Might bleed for the club but there's a pretty disappointed kid who doesn't think so.

An isolated event as he is one of the best at giving his time and enjoys talking to fans.
