If you dont get it Ill fill you in.

Ask the club and the swans what value they put on conca.

For the Nankervis trade we offered Conca and they rejected it. We then offered pick 47 and the trade was done.

Thanks for that.

An interesting analogy, but I don't think I'd bother asking either the club or the Swans what Conca was worth. Given that they agreed that Nankervis was only worth pick 47 you'd have to question the ability of either club to rate talent on this example.

I'll reiterate my point on Conca. I think he has the ability to be a handy player. Injuries have prevented him showing us what he can do, certainly in recent years. He has certainly had less chance to show us what he could do at AFL level than some of the other players on our list who have been given lots of games over a number of seasons and been found wanting at this level.

So while I get the idea that we would let Conca go if we feel he is injury prone, or if other players have gone past him, I am not sure why people are negative toward him. Richmond made him a pick 6, he didn't.

Swans had an excess of rucks and RFC deserve praise for getting such a pick up at a good price, don't think they under rated his talent at all, if RFC gave a better pick would that mean they rated him more?.

I don't get the negativity toward Conca.

I thought he showed a fair bit this year before he got injured again.

I understand he is injury prone, but if he does get a decent preseason under his belt next year, I reckon he will be a handy player.
Agree with your point slipper but there are too many that have moved passed him now.

Grimes, Vlastuin, Markov, Short, Cellis, McIntosh, Broad. Even Menadue probably gets a game ahead of him; and most of these guys arn't even established and hardened senior playersI was really hoping he might just slide into his early season form straight away but it hasn't happened. Time to move on.
How have Markov, Short, Cellis, or Broad moved past him.Look i want him gons as much as the next bloke but those blokes output is not better than Conca,s.Fmd id play him in front of Houli and Bellis out of the backline as well you know he will at least wear some contact.

I was being a bit of a smartarse with my comment.

Yeah, you would think that Richmond did really well, and maybe we did know what we were doing. The art of the deal is to maximise the value you get.

But Mike Shanahan (ex- Denver Broncos head coach) always used to say that if you were so smart and knew all about the talent of a player you were chasing, why would you low ball and possibly miss out on them.

Restricted Free Agent

BACHAR HOULI (Richmond)

One of a number of Tigers who are waiting on contract talks, with Richmond seemingly keeping their options open to keep money for Tom Lynch.

The man who starred in last year’s Grand Final is still in excellent form at only 30 so eventually should win another one-year deal.

Unrestricted Free Agents

REECE CONCA (Richmond)

Conca played three, six and six games respectively in the past three years. Finally he has overcome his injury hoodoo, playing every game and moving into the midfield as hard-tackling presence.

Like many others at Richmond his contract talks are yet to kick off, but after years of rumours about interest from WA clubs, he seems a Tiger through and through.

No reason why he won’t get another deal given he is only 26 in August.

SHAUN GRIGG (Richmond)

Into his eighth season at Richmond, the Tigers premiership ruckman (sort of) is yet to kickstart contract talks but he has only just turned 30.

Remains an underrated part of the Tigers’ makeup as a goalkicking mid who can tag or back up Toby Nankervis. Should play on.

Really wonder if we can keep both Houli & Grigg

Reason being both are 30.

Sadly in this business you have to keep turning over the list

We have to make minimum of 3 changes; which should be easy but I reckon we need to make at least 5 to ensure we keep bringing in the kids

Also, we have to make calls on 2 rookies = do we upgrade or flick....

Interesting times ahead

Conca will sign for 2-3 years :shh

Do we have to upgrade now, WP? I thought the AFL was making changes to lists in 2019 in that there will be no rookie list. Everyone on the senior list. Or maybe I am remembering wrong
