This actually isn't a bad idea IMO. Just FO two useless teams like North + Saints to NT and Tas, merge GCS into them both so that their lists are half competitive. 8 Vic teams, 2 WA, 1 QLD (GC dying), 2 NSW, 1 NT, 1 Tas, 2 SA.

17 teams, just play 16 games each with a rotating bye and go straight to final 8. Half of the teams are dead in the water after mid-season anyway are just competing for better draft picks...

In summary, WA and SA clubs to QLD, all Victorian and NSW clubs stay put. So, no home games for WA and SA sides, but home games for the rest. That's fair and equal for the #AFL. 2020 will be known as the most compromised season ever.
