Charity flag haha.

Geelong, GWS and Adelaide were no pushovers IMO. Not our fault the MCG is our home ground!

The unsociable hawks...  ::)

Geelong still sooking about the QF two years ago  :scared.

-------------------------------------------------------

Patrick Dangerfield believes it isn't fair if the Cats aren't granted a home final at GMHBA Stadium should it earn a home final.

The Cats are headed for a top-two finish this season, which would allow it to host a home final – the only catch is it will be at the MCG, not its official home ground down the highway.

Dangerfield believes Geelong should be given a "home" final in the true sense of the word – given its home ground is GMBHA Stadium and not the MCG – regardless of its opposition.

The argument is if the Cats finish top-two and have to play a team like Collingwood or Richmond, thousands of supporters would be locked out of the game, given the stadium's capacity is only 36,000 compared to over 100,000 at the MCG.

So if we finish 5th or 6th we can get a home final at PRO right? I thought being head of the aflpa would make him more conscious of the fans of the game. GMHBA is no place for a final

Can't  work out why there is any angst about the MCG as the grand final venue. Since 2000 only 6 premierships have been won by MCG tenants. One in three.

And Geelong didn't have much trouble there before Scott took over

Geelong have been playing finals only at the MCG, Docklands and Waverley for as long as I can remember. What's got into them of late?
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Talk of the G being an unfair venue for the GF given interstate sides and Cats see it as an away ground.
Here are some stats:-
Over the past 26 years (since Adelaide, Lions and Weagles entered)
Interstate sides (and Cats) have been 45% of teams in AFL
In that time, they have been involved in a GF 50% of the time and have won the GF 55% of the time when they have competed against a Melbourne side.

There have been plenty of upsets over that period:
Crows ‘97 and ‘98, Lions ‘01, Cats ‘11, Swans ‘12 and Eagles last year (only 3 teams have won the flag from 1st at the home and away season in the last 18 years) so we wouldn’t want the facts to get in the way of a good sook would we?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Let's be honest here, the only time they had a final at GMHBA they lost to Freo

Are they sure they want to do this  :rollin

Don't think the venue makes one iota of difference to them, they lose more finals than they win  ;D
