Lol that same great feeling dynasty who never once managed to defend their premiership and go back to back? Can debate on and on who would win a hypothetical matchup that could never actually come to pass - I personally always side on the later team as the games constantly evolving with coaching, training, skill set, etc. Dynasties have always been defined as 3 flags in a short period of time, they hate Richmond so much they wanna move the goal posts. Also not sure why he’s saying we were only playing finals from 17-20, i know we were wannabees at this stage but we still made finals 2013-15, missed 16, then 17-20, missed 21 and then 22 again. That’s 8 finals appearances in 10 seasons (with hopefully more to come) and 3 flags.

As far as the cats goes, we had 3 flags in 4 seasons and they had 3 in 5 seasons. We went back to back, they never managed to go back to back. We won all of ours in an 18 team comp while they won theirs in a 16-17 team comp. We also had to put up with being shifted down the draft order due to the concessions that the suns and later the giants got and so the bulk of our premiership players were taken in compromised drafts.

Would love to see our best dynasty team again Hawks and Lions.

Lions to me were indestructible.

Hawks I don't think had great opposition myself.

Richmond won their premierships in a really weak era. It is why the teams they played in their Grand Finals were up for a season or two at most. They (GWS, Adelaide etc) were not up there because they were good, they were up there because the previous heavyweight teams (Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney and Fremantle) were all in decline.

Richmond's gameplan could be picked apart by good foot skills. A 2013 to 2015 Hawthorn team would have destroyed them as they would have picked apart Richmond and Richmond would not have been able to force that many turnovers.

Roles were reversed in 17-20 & they couldn't get near us.

Nonsense, Geelong has been up continuously.
GWS were for several years also, prelim '17, SF '18, GF '19.

Only the crows fell off the face of the planet and if you ask me that was because of their stupid training camp.

Having opposition supporters hopelessly try to discredit our 3 flags in 4 years is a problem I really wanted to have 5 years ago. It all just serves as a reminder of how brilliant it's been

Geelol were Sham, while we were Secretariat. 2017 QF was the Kentucky Derby, the 2019 PF was the Preakness and the 2020 GF was the Belmont Stakes.

When all is said and done, Richmond are really no different to the likes of GWS and GC, a bakelite franchise who weren't even a foundation club.

You Tiggies can tell me that your club has won more flags and while that is true, it's something that Geelong can always change, what can't ever change is that fact that the Tiggies are blow ins to the comp.

As far as the thread goes, wouldn't have beaten 2011 Geelong.

Allowed to join the league with the mighty University in 1908 after the league had been running since 1897, you can sugar coat if all you like but the fact remains that Richmond are not a foundation club, they are blow ins.

Plus Eagles, Crows, Dockers, Power, Suns, Giants.

So that's about 8 teams.

Geelong didn't play in the VFL during some of the war years (1916, 1942-43). So technically they rejoined the comp in 1944 :shh.

We're one of only three clubs that have played in every season since 1908. Carlton & Collingwood the only two to have played every season since the inception of the VFL in 1897.

How many clubs blew in after us??
1925 - Dogs, Haw, North.
1987 - Eagles (Bears also but they merged with Fitzroy)
1991 - Crows
1995 - Freo
1997 - Port
2011 - Suns
2012 - GWS
