Jack Riewoldt thinks Hardwick should reach out to Tom Lynch to try form a reunion of the pair, who won multiple flags together during Richmond’s golden era, and see if he wanted to finish his career where it started.
Lynch played his first eight AFL seasons at the Suns before moving to Hardwick and Riewoldt’s Tigers at the end of 2018.
“If I’m Damien Hardwick, I’d put a call in to Tom Lynch,” Riewoldt said.
“And say: ‘Tom, I know what you can do ahead off the ball. We’re averaging 59 inside 50s — the best in the competition. Have you got two years of footy ahead of you to potentially play in another flag under me?’
“That’s the question Damien Hardwick has to find out.
“I reckon Tom Lynch has held up pretty well this year for Richmond in a very undermanned (side).”
The out of-contract Lynch, 32, has booted 18 goals from 12 games in 2025 after several injury-ruined seasons.
Hawthorn legend Jordan Lewis said to Riewoldt: “You might be doing side deals. Is Lynch out of contract and you just want to (help him?)”
To which Riewoldt responded: “No, I think they need a big presence ahead of the ball. (Lynch) might be a cheaper option.”
