stuff Melbourne, good to see them come crashing back to earth.
I'd enjoy it more if it's not going to gift the Pies a flag
.
I agree, they were slick, wanted it more and had no expectations on the game. Totally out coached.
Totally agree, dougey.
Pies V West Coast will be interesting imo. If last nights Pies team shows up and plays like they did then they’ll win IMO. West Coast beat them comfortably on the G in the middle of the year though.
Pies didn't have Cox, Treloar, Goldsack and Aish against the Eagles that day (who still had Gaff). Unlike last night, Collingwood failed to put their dominance in the first half on the scoreboard (due to inaccuracy - 6.9 to 8.1), which is key to their gameplan as they go all out to jump teams early and then control the game. The Eagles then got on top in the second half as the Pies tired. That's the only way I see Collingwood losing next week. If they don't kick straight in the first half and keep the Eagles in it again. Otherwise, the Pies will waltz the flag in
.
That's why the start last night was so important last night. Instead, we didn't mentally turn up, missed the first three shots of the game and then rolled over in the first half once the Pies kicked a couple
. The second half showed if we had stayed in touch on the scoreboard we could've/would've/should've ran over them (we kicked 6 of first 8 goals after half-time). However, we were too far back. Credit to Collingwood out-working, outsmarting and out-coaching us as you say but it wasn't as if we didn't know what was coming. They didn't do anything different to what they normally do. Just poor coaching, poor team selection, poor preparation and poor execution by us. We blew it!
