Matt Clarke on SEN said Dimma doesn't put a ceiling on our first year draftees. If they are good enough to play then they'll play. We are going to work on RCD's running but that shouldn't take long.

So expect him to play next year  :thumbsup.

Clarke also said we were pleased he was still around as other clubs before us were interested. Although that's the standard recruiter's response.

Richmond has used its first selection (No. 20 overall) in the 2018 national draft to recruit Oakleigh Chargers inside midfielder Riley Collier-Dawkins.

Here is a summary of what Richmond fans can expect to see from Collier-Dawkins on-field...

Club: Oakleigh Chargers
State: Victoria
Height: 190cm
Weight: 91kg

A late developer, who has grown rapidly over the past 12 months. Is now a big, powerful, inside midfielder. Had a consistent 2018 season with the Oakleigh Chargers, averaging 18 possessions per match, with 50 percent of them from contested situations. Performed extremely well in the TAC Cup finals series, helping Oakleigh make the grand final. His power and clearance work stood out in those highly-contested games.

A contested-ball specialist, who hunts the ball well at stoppages. Once he takes possession, he uses his size and strength to release the ball, or power out with speed. Has penetration in his kicking and good marking ability.

Riley will be a wonderful addition to our midfield mix. He brings a unique skill-set with his size and power, and we believe there is a huge amount of improvement remaining in his game.

Growth spurt propels Charger up AFL draft

By Jason Phelan

The draft stocks of Oakleigh Chargers midfielder Riley Collier-Dawkins have shot up along with his height over the past 12 months.

The on-baller has grown eight centimetres to 192cm and has drawn comparisons to midfield tall timber such as Patrick Cripps and Marcus Bontempelli.

The growth spurt has given him the size to play a key role up forward and has elevated him into first-round deliberations.

"I have grown a fair bit and I've had to make adaptations in my game," Collier- Dawkins said.

"I've gone from that medium-type mid to a tall midfielder, almost key position size, so there have been a few things to learn there.

"I do see myself as my own player but I do look at other [similarly-sized] players and what they're good at.

"Like [Nat] Fyfe's really good in the air and [Cripps] is really clean and [Bontempelli's] disposal and versatility is something that I try to mirror in my game."

Such an intense period of growth has presented challenges as a player and in every day life for Collier-Dawkins, who joked he's had to refresh his wardrobe a few times.

What it also does is increase his upside in the eyes of AFL clubs hoping to snag the next Fyfe, Cripps or Bontempelli.

"Those boys [who have a late growth spurt] can end up great below their knees because they've spent most of their career picking the ball up at ground level," AFL talent chief Kevin Sheehan said.

"So I think it adds to their skill set ... it's a massive plus.
