Very early days. But as Port considers whether it might pay some of Ladhams' deal to get the right trade from Sydney, understand they are fans of Jaeger O'Meara. No approach yet, but could strike next week if they can get the right deal

O’Meara is more explosive than Tom Mitchell, who is very similar to Ollie Wines. O’Meara makes a heap of sense to bolster the Power midfield. Only 27 so in the Port Adelaide window for some time. Watch this space

Leaves us with
7, 15, 26, 28, 38, 40
Pick 19 in 2022 also.
Not sure where that leave the pies deal for 27 at.

We're only going to use 5 picks in the draft so we don't need 40.

So perhaps 38+40 to the Pies for 27 + a future 3rd (connected to Freo).

Pies get 200 extra points while we move up the draft plus get another future pick for 2022.

Would leave us with five picks inside the top 30:  7, 15, 26, 27, 28.

Has Ralphmalf ever got anything right?

Seems Twomey and the flog Morris are the only 2 journos with any idea on trades now.

Or trade up via the Dogs:

38 & 40 for 23 from the Dogs. Head to the draft with 7, 15, 23, 26 & 28.

Aside: Callum Twomey mentioned that to match any bid the Pies and Dogs can only use their picks that they have list spots open for. You can't just have a zillion late-ish picks and put them all together to rack up the points you need. So they are trading not only for the points but also the picks that they can actually use that will give them the required points to match a bid.

North Melbourne knocks back godfather offer for pick 1

North Melbourne has knocked back an audacious bid from Adelaide to snare the No.1 pick in this year's NAB AFL Draft and claim local gun Jason Horne-Francis.

AFL.com.au understands the Crows offered the Kangaroos their pick No.4 in this year as well as their two first-round selections in 2022 to move up the order to No.1 this year but North is set to hold firm.

A future second-rounder going back to Adelaide from North would also have been part of the proposed deal.

But North's insistence on keeping the selection – Gold Coast has also been interested in moving up the board from pick No.3 – points to Horne-Francis joining the blue and white at November's national draft.

Dal Santo still trying to link us to Tom Mitchell.

Jon Ralph said Mitchell would be a good fit for Richmond but we don't have the salary cap space for him.

Bobby Hill wants to come to VIC.

Would anyone be interested to bring some life back into our small forward group?

Yes but only if we trade a player or 2 players out of Caddy, Castagna, Aartz or Pickett.

Can’t see any of them being traded. Caddy would be the one but I haven’t heard of any interest from other clubs. Caddy, Pickett and aarts are out of contract end of next season though and I’d expect 2-3 not to be extended.

No mention of us regarding Bobby Hill.

Essendon is among the clubs set to explore the prospect of looking at the 21-year-old, with Geelong and North Melbourne having also been on the lookout for small forwards in the off-season.
