It’s speculative but I am actually proud of the boys for not letting some muppet off the hook for whatever happened to rioli’s girlfriend. High profile or not for me the real injustice is how the guy who instigated the whole thing is off the hook.

The instigator is off the hook because Rioli and Bolton won't press charges

The girlfriend could make a complaint too and it appears she hasn't

I've got no issue with what they did on the night but reckon they should be pressing charges

I think it’s strange that they aren’t pressing charges
If they are the innocent angels and victims as the story is being told, then pressing charges is a complete must

Makes zero sense ..
1- touched up Rioli’s mrs
2- belted Rioli

Yet no charges ???? Weird

Well they're indigenous - they're generally reluctant to involve the police & courts if they can help it... :shh

Dangerfield defends Rioli, Bolton, slams social media 'd***heads'

Dangerfield, the injured Geelong superstar, said players deserved to be able to enjoy themselves without being harassed.

"The challenges are, especially when you go out and you let your hair down after a stressful week, you're dealing with d***heads that pull out their phones at a nightclub and are just trying to film something on social media," Dangerfield told Melbourne radio station SEN.

"They're looking for a reaction. You're on a [hiding] to nothing as a player.

"We've got to treat our players like adults and they've got to be able to enjoy themselves but you do deal with members of the general public that are out there for nothing but trouble.

"I really sympathise with the boys because they're in a really difficult situation where something inappropriate happens to a partner, and maybe with wiser heads you might react differently but that's easy to say from the grandstand.

"It's a different thing in the heat of the moment where you're like, 'this is crap, this is inappropriate, I'm not dealing with this'."

Press charges for assault then. These cultural issues continue because they always go unpunished. Same with assaults on healthcare workers and emergency services.

Unless it's just an excuse and the boys really just got into a silly punch on and Bolton broke his wrist punching someone.

New details into Bolton & D.Rioli nightclub incident (7news)
« Reply #54 on: May 12, 2021, 06:19:08 PM »
Tom Browne on 7news just now said 'eyewitnesses' have claimed Bolton and Rioli were evicted and remained outside the venue for 30 minutes trying to re-enter.

Rioli was seen arguing with security guards outside and Bolton was trying to re-enter and making remarks against the man who clashed with Rioli inside the venue.

Fight was around 1am and witnesses say it was "particularly aggressive" after the man made inappropriate gestures towards Rioli's girlfriend.

Police aren't officially investigating but they are looking at the altercation inside the venue.

There are a multitude of reasons that they may not want to lay charges including but not limited to the stress associated with Court proceedings and unwanted attention from the media and the general public. The fact that they do not want to lay charges should not be interpreted as they have done something wrong. I think Dangerfield's remarks are spot on.

AFL ‘sceptical’ of Tigers’ nightclub fight facts as new eyewitness details emerge

AFL officials remain sceptical of Richmond’s assessment of their players’ nightclub fight as the league’s investigation continues.

Daniel Rioli is nursing a black eye while star midfielder Shai Bolton has been sidelined with a broken wrist following an altercation with another man on the weekend.

The Tigers believe Rioli’s girlfriend Paris Lawrence was “subjected to inappropriate behaviour” before the footballer was punched in the face.

But the AFL integrity unit is still firming up what occurred, holding concern about the length of time between the fight and when league officials were first told about the incident.

League officials are understood to be sceptical on the facts, in particular Richmond’s version of events.

The Tigers chose not to sanction Rioli, who attended training on Tuesday, or Bolton.

New eyewitness accounts told to 7NEWS claim the 1am clash was particularly aggressive.

Witnesses say Rioli and Bolton remained outside the club for up to 30 minutes after they were evicted.

Witnesses claimed that Rioli argued at length with a security guard and Bolton tried to re-enter the club on multiple occasions.

It’s alleged he was heard making remarks against the man who clashed with Rioli inside.

Victoria Police is not officially investigating but they are looking into the altercation.
