AFL ‘sceptical’ of Tigers’ nightclub fight facts as new eyewitness details emergeTom Browne and Glenn Valencich

Wednesday, 12 May 2021 6:41 pm AESTAFL officials remain sceptical of Richmond’s assessment of their players’ nightclub fight as the league’s investigation continues.
Daniel Rioli is nursing a black eye while star midfielder Shai Bolton has been sidelined with a broken wrist following an altercation with another man on the weekend.
The Tigers believe Rioli’s girlfriend Paris Lawrence was “subjected to inappropriate behaviour” before the footballer was punched in the face.
But the AFL integrity unit is still firming up what occurred, holding concern about the length of time between the fight and when league officials were first told about the incident.
League officials are understood to be sceptical on the facts, in particular Richmond’s version of events.
The Tigers chose not to sanction Rioli, who attended training on Tuesday, or Bolton.
New eyewitness accounts told to 7NEWS claim the 1am clash was particularly aggressive.
Witnesses say Rioli and Bolton remained outside the club for up to 30 minutes after they were evicted.
Witnesses claimed that Rioli argued at length with a security guard and Bolton tried to re-enter the club on multiple occasions.
It’s alleged he was heard making remarks against the man who clashed with Rioli inside.
Victoria Police is not officially investigating but they are looking into the altercation.
