Interesting what Tommy is saying seems to go against what a few callers to SEN said.

The callers (the ones I heard) backed Rioli's and Bolton's version of events. One as far as to say ours players were targeted.

Only other thing I will say is the main issue here is being ignored by the media and that is the treatment of Rioli's girlfriend. She was allegedly assaulted. She was supposedly verbally abused and touched inappropriately...that is assault

She needs to make a complaint as this type of action cannot be tolerated and the lowlifes shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. Get away with it this time and they will keep doing it.

Correct. Rioli was also struck from behind- from a coward.

Exactly.

Hopefully she pressed charges.

And if she does then it adds credibility to our boys' story.

Not suggesting I don't believe them, but if she was assaulted then they should press charges because crap like that never stops unless you throw the book at the mongrels.

If the club were smart there are various means to which intersectionality has been applicable in this whole ordeal.

- Critical race theory of First Nations peoples and their plight amongst the racist white elite.

- respect against woman is currently high on the political agenda. This situation is just another example of the way woman are objectified by an antediluvian patriarchal system.

- the growing need to highlight Black Lives Matter amongst First Nations peoples and the necessary examination of how the racist white media reports against them always associating drunkenness and generalising antisocial behaviour amongst people of colour in this country - club should name and shame every white journalist that makes a negative comment suggesting any wrongdoing.

- The only victims in this whole ordeal are typically First Nations peoples who were only doing their duty in respect of woman to “UNMUTE” themselves by standing up to any kind of abuse of against women. It again highlights the cultural systemic racist white dominated police department that should ultimately be defunded because many First Nations peoples have been killed in custody under this racist white man dominated Australian society.

The club should have the whole AFL dressed in pink bowing their knee before games and fist clenched  high to the sounds of Bob Marley.  :rollin

The current advertising campaign encouraging us to 'unmute' when we see inappropriate behaviour  towards women only seems to count if you are white!     :thumbsdown

Unlike the Dusty chopsticks saga I am glad these boys weren't strung up, drawn and quartered before proper investigations were held

Shane Crawford lauds Richmond Tigers over response to nightclub brawl

"How good are the Richmond Football Club? Obviously a couple of their players get into a bit of trouble [and] most AFL clubs and sporting clubs would go, 'Do you know what? We're going to suspend you and you're out for a few weeks and we might fine you as well.' Whereas the Richmond Football Club and Damien Hardwick said, 'Nah, we love you guys, you're OK, let's just get on with it, don't get yourself in that situation ever again'," Crawford said on Today.

"I love it. I love the reaction.

"People are going, 'How dare you not fine them and suspend them', but that's just the Richmond Football Club understanding their players, knowing whether or not they did the wrong or right thing. In this case they just think they stood up for themselves.

"Let's just get on with footy."

‘They should be walking away’: AFL chief counters Richmond approach over nightclub incident

Daniel Cherny
The Age

Gillon McLachlan disagrees with part of Richmond coach Damien Hardwick’s defence of Tiger pair Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton, suggesting that players “should be walking away” from conflict.

McLachlan, while reluctant to enter into specifics, broadly disagreed with Hardwick’s stance.

“We haven’t finished. The integrity team are doing what they do and they haven’t finished that. My view is I respect Damien’s view, but it’s different. Our players, and I ask all players, I don’t condone violence and they should be walking away. It’s difficult at times, I know that provocation exists and circumstances are always relevant but my general position is that people need to walk away and be above that,” McLachlan said.

“Let’s see where everything plays out in terms of the report and then if appropriate I would have more to say.

“I think it’s difficult to comment on stuff if it’s known that the integrity department are having a look at it.”

Walking away is the exact opposite to the new UnMute campaign the government spending millions of dollars on.

While I understand the point you are making and as I said I have no issue with what the guys did...

UnMute doesn't in anyway promote using violence against violence. It promotes people saying something and doing something without physical violence

I get what Gil is saying. Even Benny Gale has said he would have preferred if the players just walked away but as I think this incident has proved it isn't that easy

But will reiterate Rioli's girlfriend should be making a complaint and pressing charges. She still can and she should

If I or a mate got attacked and punched in the head the last thing I would be doing is standing there having a conversation whilst being attacked

(music blaring in the club hard to hear what anyone is saying)
Rioli: Hey mate, would you pretty please stop groping my girlfriend or talking to her in an in appropriate manner? I’m just gonna walk away because your obviously drunk.

Perpetrator: What did you say prick don’t call me a *#!?in’  I’ll #!?in smash ya!

(Punch is already thrown)

....meanwhile Bolton is seeing some drunken guy punching his mate.......

 :rollin

The AFL is kidding themselves. Try stopping yourself if your mrs gets groped or spoken to disrespectfully.  I’d like to see what Gil would do if that happened to his mrs. :shh
