Clubs will “come very hard” for out-of-contract GWS midfielder Tim Taranto, according to AFL Media reporter Cal Twomey.

The 24-year-old recently told AFL.com.au that he’s in no rush to sign a new deal, but did say he’s happy and settled in Sydney.

Seems odd but at least we are hopefully out and about being active in trades.

But midfielders should surely be our priority!

Dan McStay (Brisbane)

“McStay is one that has definitely been on the radar of Victorian clubs for a little while now. Negotiations have been parked there.

“Collingwood’s a club to look for there in terms of what they could be looking at.

“With McStay, you look at the clubs who were interested and had some interest and floated their interest in Ben King, I think they’re the same clubs that would be asking the question of Dan McStay.”

Bring up his contract value based on tonight’s performance.

BIG VIC INTEREST IN FREE AGENT

Daniel McStay is a free agent in demand, with the Brisbane key forward attracting ample interest from Victorian-based clubs, reports the Herald Sun.

McStay, 26, has played 142 games and kicked 115 goals for the Lions since being drafted with Pick 25 in the 2013 national draft.

The Herald Sun reported McStay had put off contract talks with Brisbane until later in the season, with “almost every Melbourne-based club” inquiring about the key forward’s footy future.

The report indicated if McStay did leave the Lions at season’s end, he would only join a Victorian-based club as he’s originally from Melbourne.

While the Lions have little salary cap wiggle room following their acquisitions of Joe Daniher, Charlie Cameron and Lachie Neale over the past five years, the club is confident McStay will remain in Brisbane considering it’s in the middle of a premiership window.

McStay booted a career-high 28 goals last year, including 17 from his last eight full games.

He kicked 2.2 from 14 disposals and six marks against North Melbourne last weekend.

LOGUE ON RADAR OF VIC CLUBS

Victorian clubs have reportedly made inquiries about Fremantle’s former top-10 pick Griffin Logue, as the key defender struggles to cement a spot in the Dockers’ senior side.

The Herald Sun reports Logue, 24, is strongly favoured to move to a Melbourne-based club next year as the out-of-contract defender looms as a valuable commodity on the open market.

Logue, a former pick No.8, has played in only three of five senior games this season despite being fit, but has been named for round six against Carlton after Heath Chapman was withdrawn under health and safety protocols.

Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Richmond are all cited in the report as needing another key defender, while Geelong is also leaving a considerable amount of work to youngster Sam De Koning in defence.
