Cowardly act.

He can be reported

Let's see what the MRO does

Should be suspended for at least 2 H&A games

won't be suspended, nor should he. West Coast bloke was coming back with the flight. Honestly reckon it was more about protecting his teammate than trying to kill the kid.

Free kick and move on. plenty of players about, no one remonstrated

Can't remember who but Hopper pushed someone into a contest last year and they did their knee.  Lots of players have done it.

Hawkins wrecked Soldo’s knee pushing him into a contest. Dangerous and should be targeted by umps.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Tigers outplayed in match sim, Lalor helped off the ground late

By AAP with Dejan Kalinic, AFL Media
17 Feb 2025

WEST COAST          1.0     7.2     10.2 (62)
RICHMOND            1.1     1.1      4.2 (26)

GOALS
West Coast: Brockman 3, Allen 2, Hewett, Long, Petruccelle, Dewar, Owies

Richmond: Lalor 2, Hayes-Brown, Mansell

Richmond's No.1 draft pick Sam Lalor has suffered a concussion and been forced off the field after a nasty collision in the dying stages of the pre-season hitout against West Coast.

Lalor appeared to hit his head when he was pushed into Eagles trialist Sandy Brock in a marking contest.

The 18-year-old was assessed by medical staff as he lay on the ground for about one minute before walking off the field.

It was later confirmed that he will enter the AFL's concussion protocols, meaning he will miss the club's AAMI Community Series game against Collingwood next Wednesday.

Richmond's season-opener is against Carlton on March 13.

"He's got a bit of a sore jaw at the moment, so he's currently in concussion (testing) protocols," Richmond head of development Sam Lonergan told reporters.

"We'll just wait and see what that looks like and then hopefully find out pretty quickly over the next 24 hours.

"He was great today. He played a little bit in the midfield and spent some time forward, which was fantastic, and contributed in both areas of the ground."

Earlier, Lalor kicked the Tigers' first goal with a set shot in an even opening period of three at Mineral Resources Park in Perth on Monday.

But it was all West Coast after that as Tyler Brockman booted three goals in a comfortable 10.2 (62) to 4.2 (26) victory for the home side.

Tyrell Dewar almost pulled in a spectacular mark on an opponent's shoulders and provided a highlight with a superb goal on the run from 50 metres.

Former Carlton forward Matt Owies kicked his first goal for West Coast, while former Tigers Jack Graham and Liam Baker also lined up in Eagles colours for the first time.

For the Tigers, Jacob Blight – a 23-year-old picked in last year's mid-season draft – showed promising signs behind the ball.

Interesting take...

Ginley didn’t IMHO help his cause when he took his eyes off the ball and shirked the on coming contact he was facing

You're probably right, he'll get off doesn't make what he did right. As others have mentioned it is causing serious injuries

I thought Dow was our best player by a country mile. Not sure that's a good or bad thing. There were a few that were very disappointing on the day. Having said that, it's a practice match in WA. The result means nothing. In regards to Ginby, I have been concerned about these type of actions for a while. Darcy Moore similar dog acts. They need to be reportable and reviewed by the match review panel weekly. Ginby was trying to make his presence felt all game which is fine. But to push an opponent into a dangerous situation is not on in my view...

Dow was no where near it imo.

I fear the for group around his age (Dow, banks, sonesie, gibcus, brown, smith, green) none of them have really shown anything of substance yet, just very small glimpses. They would want to start coming on this season

I hate the push player into the contest. It is as gutless as. Hawkins has done it for years and injured players. Soldo knee injury. It's just dangerous. Will say Rance was a bit of a culprit too to be impartial. It's so weak and I hate seeing it. Ginbey didn't mean for Lalor jaw to be broken but was still cowardly and hugely reckless. Id rather non footy acta like this be outlawed then the bump. Yet we see guys get 3 weeks for a rough tackle but turn a blind eye on a coward pushing another player into oncoming body traffic. It happens enough to be an issue. Give him weeks and stamp it out.
Go Tigers!
