Four bloody twilight games  :gobdrop :gobdrop - geez the AFL seem to be trying to cash in on us. I hope the Club didn't request those :banghead

And I think there is massive mistake with the draw:

Sunday, Jul 22 (Day) Port Adelaide MCG Home 2:10 pm

Can't be right surely - we never play Port at the MCG -  :rollin

At first glance it's a shocker - not because of who we play but because of when we play. 10 night games + 4 twilight games  :gobdrop

Back to back trips to Adelaide ....  :banghead why?

Only 8 home MCG games - they should have given us at least 9 to compensate for:

The 5 interstate trips

And the 4 twilight games that are going to struggle to attract crowds in the middle of winter and because they will be on Paytv and not everyone has Paytv so they wont be able to watch

The order of opponents isn't bad but we've been absolutely screwed as far as times and venues go.

The new company they used was meant to reduce the number of 6 day breaks yet we get 7  ::).

4 twilight games that start at 5.10pm on a Sunday. That'll boost our crowds  ::).

Geelong get 2 home games against us. The Dome is their home ground AFL  >:(. We play the Roos at the Dome too which suits them.

Only 12 games at the 'G  :banghead.

Rounds 4 - 8 and 11 - 13 will decide our year.

Just loooking at the rest of the draw

Can anyone explain to me:

Why the Bulldogs get a HOME game at the MCG -v- Adel no less - that'll be a massive crowd :wallywink  :banghead

Why Carlton get ...wait for it.... 5 home games at the MCG and only 6 home games at Telstra - hello Telstra is there home ground :banghead

Why Geelong get 1 home game at the MCG :banghead

Why North get 2 home games at the MCG when in Melbourne their home ground is supposed to be Telstra ::)

In the past I've been pretty understanding as to why teams have had to play home games at the Dome but NO MORE :banghead

But the clubs listed above shouldn't get home games at the MCG at the expense of MCG home teams - heck even the Pies only get 9 home games at the MCG.

IMHO Richmond, Melb, C'wood should all get 11 homes games at the MCG and then if there's room then others can get have their chop. Hawthorn don't deserve a guarantee because they are too busy selling their souls to Tassie  :wallywink

The AFL site has come up with what the draw means to each club from a football perspective and financial perspective.

Here's what they say about the Tigers:

RICHMOND:

Football:

Starts the year well with the first six games all in Melbourne - five of them at the MCG - but then it's all downhill from there. In rounds seven and eight it faces back-to-back games in Adelaide and also has to go to Perth twice as well as Sydney. And the Tigers are one of the few teams to meet both of last year's grand finalists in Sydney and West Coast twice. But at least they have 12 games at the MCG this year, compared to just nine in 2006.

Financial:
Doesn't have a big drawing home game until Essendon in round nine but does have an MCG, Friday night home game against Collingwood in round 19 and has the prime Friday night home spot again in round 12 when it hosts Melbourne at the MCG in the second half of the split round. And will be hoping the AFL's new Sunday twilight games are a success considering it plays more (five) than any other Victorian club.

All those poor Vic clubs need $$$ to survive so they get home games against the Pies at the 'G ::). The Pies don't travel after round 12.

You don't want clubs to fold but it hard to have sympathy for them when we are paying for their financial problems. The AFL did us no favours with the draw when we lost money.

It's a farce!

Our draw is a disgrace- Financially for the club its very bad- our gate receipts will get a hiding and second Its a very tough draw which will make it very hard to make the 8.

If we're good enough we'll make the Eight but just from a financial point of view the Club should make an official protest to the AFL. Combine the NAB Cup draw with the first 8 rounds and we miss out big time dollar wise.
