Jack Riewoldt having 'best season'
Sky News
Updated: 09:20, Saturday June 29, 2013

Relying less on Jack Riewoldt is making Richmond, and the star goalkicker, more dangerous.

That's the view of Tigers AFL coach Damien Hardwick, believing the club's unearthing of a spread of goalkickers has helped the club's bid for a first finals appearance in 12 years.

St Kilda have earmarked Riewoldt as the dangerman in their Sunday clash at the MCG - the forward having kicked 15 goals in his past two matches against the Saints.

But Hardwick believes the Tigers finding multiple avenues to goal has allowed Riewoldt to be more consistent, and therefore his team more menacing.

'The great thing about our spread of goalkickers this season is that Jack's had his best season since I've been at the footy club,' Hardwick said.

'He's on track for about 60 goals, he's impacting games, he's been bigger and better than years previous.

'The thing he's not relying on is kicking seven, then kicking one.

'He regularly kicks his three or four goals, which is a great result and which brings into the game Ty Vickery, Aaron Edwards, and our midfielders are kicking goals.

'He does his role as required, and we're winning as well.'

Our midfield should dominate the saints and with their lack of decent backs I'd expect Lockup to kick 3, Vickery to kick 5 & Jack to kick 7.

Should be a good day at the office for the boys tomorrow.

Poor old jack , got so excited at the prospect of kicking the bakers dozen against the saints...he lost the plot completely.

Under the headline "Tiger twist", Ch 7 saying Jack is keeping fans guessing on whether he'll stay at Punt Rd. More later on in the news.

Going by what Jack just said on the Footy Show, not going anywhere. I don't think he could have said it any more convincingly  :cheers

Yep Jack was more emphatic tonight about it wasn't he. He said someone told him the media has misquoted him and he hopes to play his whole career at Richmond and that he loves the club. Just need to tie up out some final ends regarding the new contract and he hopes he'll be able to announce he's re-signed shortly.

Riewoldt determined to stay a Tiger

   The Age/ AAP
    July 5, 2013

Two-time AFL Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt says he's determined to finalise a new deal which will keep him at Richmond.

The 24-year-old, who won All-Australian selection in 2010, is out-of-contract at the end of the 2013 season.

"We're just trying to sort out the finer details of my contract," the 125-game veteran told Channel Nine's The Footy Show on Thursday night.

"I'm looking forward to signing a new contract at Richmond and being there hopefully for the rest of my career.

"Hopefully for the Richmond faithful out there I can be putting pen to paper soon and we can have some great news."

The Tigers are sixth on the ladder after 14 rounds and appear headed for their first finals appearance since 2001.

Riewoldt said he was unaware of any possible offers coming from rival clubs such as bottom side Greater Western Sydney.

"I don't know about that. They go through Liam Pickering and my management," Riewoldt said.

"I don't hear about that. I focus solely on playing football for Richmond.

"I love the club and I'm really hoping to put pen to paper soon."

Riewoldt has kicked 40 goals in 2013 and is on track to boot 60-plus for the fourth consecutive season.
