The race for the Coleman Medal: Lance Franklin primed to win third award with Jarryd Roughead to miss Fremantle clashBen Waterworth

August 12, 2014 5:14PMJack Riewoldt (Richmond)Total Goals in 2014: 48
Goals in past three matches: 2 (Essendon), 1 (GWS Giants), 1 (West Coast Eagles)
Average goals against remaining opponents: 1.86 (Adelaide), 3.5 (St Kilda), 2.09 (Sydney)
If it wasn’t for his equal league-high haul of 11 goals in Round 10 earlier this season, Riewoldt would be nowhere near the top of the goalkicking table.
Besides that bag, he hasn’t kicked five or more goals in any other game, yet he has consistently produced bags of two or three goals.
Remarkably, Riewoldt, who won the Coleman Medal in 2010 and 2012, has barely contributed to Richmond’s recent surge up the ladder — a wonderful sign for Tigers fans but not Riewoldt’s Coleman chances.
A third medal seems unlikely.
