l reckon Jack is carrying a leg injury that restricts his kicking power. l have seen several players with this injury which allows the player to run quick, but not burst off the spot & stops them from kicking the full distance their capable or turning a certain side when evading a opponent.

before the game he was telling hardwick "thats my range"

and hardwick just talked some crap and told he to lean back more

Jack on MMM ....

* I’m not totally focused on kicking goals.  My role is to kick goals but the more score involvements I can be involved in, the better for the side. I only kicked one goal on the weekend but we still managed to kick 13.  We found a lot of midfield goals, which are key to winning games these days. Hopefully, we can continue to kick winning scores.

* It’s the modern game. You really want to try and defend first. That’s probably our motto. We try to defend and that’s pushing up the ground and trying to pick up the midfielders’ men so they can get back and help out our backs. We’ve seen a lot of goals this year, I reckon, from back patterns, nearly the old Pagan’s paddock, where guys are running back and kicking goals over the top. It’s tough to play full-forward these days.  You end up playing more as a half-forward.

The best form of defence is winning the ball & maintaining possession.

That still doesn't explain why his set shot kicking has been less than average as of late

We get the kick out and mids goals, it's an indirect goal assist from jack
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Nothing to do with keepings off....about players being strong and applying pressure at the contest, having good skills and decision making, therefore winning the ball more and not turning it over as much when in attack....

The best form of defensive is attack and attack early, something we haven't done consistently and when we have we haven't defended!!!!

Jack needs to stay in the square and Hardwick needs to realise that next year.

Jack Riewoldt is the second-most used inside 50m target (176) in the AFL. Only Sydney Swan Lance Franklin (179) has been the target of more forward entries.

Riewoldt is ranked No.1 for marks inside 50m (77).

The Coleman Medallist is sixth for scoreboard impact according to Champion Data.

The race for the Coleman Medal: Lance Franklin primed to win third award with Jarryd Roughead to miss Fremantle clash

Jack Riewoldt (Richmond)

Total Goals in 2014: 48

Goals in past three matches: 2 (Essendon), 1 (GWS Giants), 1 (West Coast Eagles)

Average goals against remaining opponents: 1.86 (Adelaide), 3.5 (St Kilda), 2.09 (Sydney)

If it wasn’t for his equal league-high haul of 11 goals in Round 10 earlier this season, Riewoldt would be nowhere near the top of the goalkicking table.

Besides that bag, he hasn’t kicked five or more goals in any other game, yet he has consistently produced bags of two or three goals.

Remarkably, Riewoldt, who won the Coleman Medal in 2010 and 2012, has barely contributed to Richmond’s recent surge up the ladder — a wonderful sign for Tigers fans but not Riewoldt’s Coleman chances.

A third medal seems unlikely.

Jack on MMM ...

AUDIO: http://audioboo.fm/boos/2383628-the-rub-saturday-9th-august-part-1.mp3

* I think we’ve developed a bit of a steely resolve and most of the credit’s got to go to the captain. He’s the one that’s stood up and grabbed the group by the scruff of the neck, along with Ivan and the rest of our leadership group and said, "Boys, we’re not copping this. This is where we need to get better".

* We’ve done a lot of personal feedback over the last three months and some of it’s been public, in terms of us talking to Trent and telling him we want him to demand more from us.

* As well, we said to Milesy after a poor game last week against GWS that we needed him to stand up. That really in-your-face feedback from your teammates can be confronting at times but our leaders said that’s what they want us to do and it shows a love and a care that they want everyone to get better. So, the credit’s got to be put on their shoulders because they’re the ones that have started to drag us back up the ladder.
