HIS purple kombi van died on the way back from the club’s community camp in Phillip Island a few weeks ago, his hole-proof surfing technique is being hampered by an undersized board and he enjoys the high-pitch tones and financial advice of balding television presenter David Koch.

“I don’t mind Sunrise with Kochie … he’s a pretty funny bloke.”

Welcome to the world of exciting new recruit Jack Riewoldt. The former Tassie Mariners player was among several young squad members given a chance to strut their stuff in the Challenge Cup match against Sydney last weekend.

“I didn’t really get settled until the end of the third and into the last quarter,” Riewoldt said. “But it was just good to get a game under the belt and experience the intensity.”

Things couldn’t have gone better for him in last year’s 2006 NAB AFL Draft. He was selected with pick 13 overall by Richmond, earning him the chance to play alongside his football idol, Mathew Richardson, a player he continues to be in awe of.

“I’ve really just tried to base my game my work ethic and my outside lifestyle on what Richo does because he’s so professional,” Riewoldt said. “A lot of people don’t see that outside the club and what he does to get his body up every week.”

Good to hear and congratulations to Jack. He has deserved his chance  :clapping.

X is right. Terry said Meyer will come in either this week or the next. We are now on the full youth path.

As Riewoldt is a key forward I wonder who will go out? Maybe Terry will rotate Cleve and Jack off the bench at CHF with Sarge in the goalsquare and Richo roaming around like he did against the Eagles. I know Sarge kicked 4 points but I don't think Terry will drop him. Better to let him go out again and show he is usually a straight kick.

I would drop Pettifer, he definately needs a spell

Not sure about the others though.

Maybe Tuck, he hasnt been giving us a great deal. He is getting the footy but is a turn over king and not a smart thinker also.

They arent going to drop all of the senior players and i would think Tiv would be safe. He had a good start to the season and one average game wont get him dropped.

As for Polo, maybe a another week or 2 at Coburg will make him even hungier.

In - Riewoldt, Polo, Meyer
Out - Pettifer (enough is enough, too afraid and soft)
      - Tuck (turns the ball over way too much and isn't even effective with the hard stuff)
      - Jackson / King (we need to improve our skills and these 2 just don't have it)

Over the next few weeks I'd also like more skill and youth injected in the form of Casserly, Moore, Thursfield and Connors.  Maybe at the expense of players like Gaspar Jackson/King, Johnson, Tivendale, or Hyde etc.

The wheel is turning.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

Harry how can you bag king on just a couple of senior games? Gimme a break!!  :banghead He does have the right stuff and real footy smarts which is lacking in some of our more senior players. I think his composure in tight situations is excellent. At the moment I would class him as serviceable but with more gametime I'm confident he will improve greatly. He has great vision and composure, he just needs to improve his footskills.

I'm with Harry - Even though it is only a couple of games I would say King is an honest toiler and Edwards is the one with the footy smarts  :thumbsup

Agree with the outs and ins Harry, would particularly like Connors to come in sooner rather than later. Has great confidence in his ability, can be a bit arrogant  ;) but IMO will tear it up like Sherman did

I was talking about this today with another tiger supporter...

Obviously, Jackie Riewoldt is going to be our next debutant.

Do we play him this week in Adelaide?

Or do we wait until the following week at home at the MCG in front of (fingers crossed) a big Crowd against a traditional rival in the Bombers?

Thoughts?

NB: the topic here is Jack Riewoldt :thumbsup
