At the end of the day Melbourne Storm turned out to be only a Melbourne Fart.  :whistle

What I found interesting was that in the AFL the powers that be have moved heaven to ensure Sydney and Brisbane succeed on the Grandest stage ie non AFL states yet the NRL virtually have had no understanding or compassion to the Storm's plight during the latter stages of the season in a non NRL state.
This stood out a mile for me too. You'd expect Sydneysiders and their media to hate the Storm and be anti-Melbourne and whinge and moan but for nuff nuff Gallop and his NRL cronies to support them shows how uncommitted they really are to a truly national RL comp. Oh well that little Sydney-centric suburban attitude will come back to bite them come the next tv rights when another $1b is handed over to the AFL. It says a lot that they make Andy D and the AFL look like admins from heaven  :help.

I always thought it odd to have a Rugby League world cup. We could have an Aussie Rules one lol given the Aussie RL side is miles ahead of the rest and there are so few countries competing in the comp anyway. One other thing that stood out last night was how much the Storm missed Cam Smith in the NRL grand final.

Oops :rollin  :wallywink

The Aussie RL side did a Geelong tonight. Choked big time in the one that counted.

But how many forward passed were the Kiwi's allowed to do and head high tackles.
Cause they seemed to be allowed to get away with them all gsme while we got fingered right away.
But when we went from 10 to 14 that was the highlight of the game.

I know you shouldn't point the finger at just one player but................. :banghead :banghead

Billy Slater hang your head in shame, 20 mins to go and instead of taking the tackle you try and rund around blokes on the side line and then under pressure just throw it blindly backwards for a turn-over and the easiet of tries... IMHO cost Australia the world cup :banghead :banghead

Yep Billy had a major brain fade  :P. NZ deserved the win though. More attacking and creative and 22-4 after half-time is a spanking. It's funny how sides can turn up cold and off the boil if they make the decider too easily and get knocked off by the more battle hardened team.

True - they certainly seemed like they wanted it more... certainly played that way

Australia seemed to play like they just thought it was all going to happen

No one probably cares about this (apart from me) but West Tigers have resigned Robbie Farah

What's going on up there in the NRL?! Now their poster boy for the new season Brett Stewart is up on sex charges and the NRL have had to pull their ad off the air.

There was also another player who pushed and shoved a sponsor of the NRL at their season opening launch. What nutters!

The RFC wouldn't mind a 27 year old state of origin player walking into the club at the minute. It's just happened for the Storm.

MELBOURNE STORM has signed exiled Parramatta half-back Brett Finch until the end of this season.
It’s believed Finch, who walked out on the Eels last week after a dispute with coach Daniel Anderson, agreed to terms with the 2007 premiers late yesterday.

Good to see the Storm boys Slater and Smith finish off the Blues in the last few minutes. I hope Inglis is okay.
