Go the Storm! With Cam Smith's kicking boots left down in Melbourne, It took 4 tries before I felt comfortable. Well done to the boys. They deserved it after the two seasons they have had. Clearly the best team in the NRL. :cheers :thumbsup

The Storm lost 4-11 to Leeds but why are these games always played in England and in our preseason against English teams that have just come off their season and are at their peak and battle-hardened.

What an idiot the Leeds CEO is. Why don't you come down to Oz in early October and we'll see who is the world's best RL team  :stupid

"Tonight, I think we have seen without question England and the Super League have, indisputably, the world's best rugby league team.

"That sends out a terrific challenge to Australia and New Zealand and the NRL to try to produce a team as good as the one in England."

Star NRL player(s) shot at in Sydney

Jarryd Hayne, who plays for Parramatta, was shot at on Ward Street in Kings Cross as he was walking with two friends at 4.20am (AEDT) on Monday.

The three escaped injury in the incident.

Parramatta rugby league club CEO Denis Fitzgerald told AAP his club was trying to locate Hayne Monday morning.

"We've obviously heard the reports but have been unable to contact Jarryd Hayne so we are none the wiser in regard to that at this stage," he said.

"We are trying to locate him and others."

Early reports suggested St George-Illawarra's Mark Gasnier was also caught up in the incident, but the extent of his involvement remained unclear.

Without naming who was involved, police said a Parramatta man was shot at on Ward St at 4.20am on Monday by a man standing beside a car.

"A Parramatta man in his 20s informed police that he was walking in the (Kings Cross) area with two friends when he noticed a man standing beside a car," a police spokeswoman told reporters.

"The man then fired a single shot in his direction.

"The three men then ran from the area and contacted police.

"The man who fired the shot then returned to the car and left the scene."

With the AFL wanting to push further into Sydney and the Gold Coast, interesting there's now a high profile push to merge Rugby League and Union at junior levels at least.

Craig Bellamy signs new five-year deal with Melbourne Storm

EXCLUSIVE: MELBOURNE Storm coach Craig Bellamy has signed a five-year contract today to stay at Melbourne Storm until 2013.

It is one of the richest coaching deals in rugby league history, believed to be worth around $2.5 million.

The man who coached Melbourne Storm to last year's premiership triumph phoned Broncos boss Bruno Cullen this afternoon to officially reject a massive offer to move to Brisbane.

Bellamy is now regarded as the number one coach in the game and will lead NSW into the State of Origin against Queensland this year.

His decision to stay in Melbourne is a huge bonus for the Storm but a devastating blow to the Broncos, who needed a man of his stature to replace six-time premier coach Wayne Bennett., who  is believed to have landed a $750,000-a-year deal with the Dragons.

Bellamy, a two-time Dally M coach of the year winner, claimed his first premiership as head coach last year and has helped turn a host of players from discards at other clubs into representative stars. He will also coach NS Wales at State-of-Origin level for the first time this year.

Melbourne had previously offered Bellamy only a one-year extension to his deal.

But, with Brisbane officials having met Bellamy's manager, John Fordham, twice in a fortnight, Storm was forced to increase its offer.

Cullen and club chairman Darryl Somerville met Fordham at his Sydney office on Monday.

Storm chief executive Brian Waldron will meet Fordham on Friday.

Melbourne lock Dallas Johnson yesterday put any concerns over whether Bellamy would be at the club beyond next year to one side when he signed a new long-term deal.

Johnson's three-year deal will keep him in Melbourne until the end of 2011.

That's a big get for the Storm. It would have been devestating to lose both Falau and Bellamy at the end of the year especially Bellamy. The Storm have lost good players north before (Kimmorley & Orford) yet still won the premiership thanks to Bellamy.

HUGE get for the storm, if Bellyache left a few important senior players would of followed Smith being one.

Would have left storm a shell and stuggling in the melbourne market imo ..

Good stuff  :clapping
