Rumour has it the MJS will be making his return to footy this season in Rd 1  :thumbsup

What a surprise that it happens to coincide with us playing Carlton, wonder if he will be sitting in the Carlton section or the Richmond section.  :shh

How many tickets do you have MJS? One or Two?  :shh

 :gotigers

I reckon 2 :shh ;)

Listening to SEN last evening driving home David Schwarz has Carlton finishing 8th :gobdrop and the Tigers taking out the Wooden Spoon  :gobdrop

Gotta do this --->   :ROTFL :ROTFL :jump

 ;D

:rollin  :wallywink.

Didn't Schwarz tip Geelong for the flag last year after the NAB Cup.

B:    Raines     J.Bowden       Gaspar
        Betts       Fevola         Kennedy

HB:  Newman    Polak          Deledio
        Fisher     Whitnall        Bentick

C:      Polo         Foley         Tivendale
       Scotland    Murphy       Houlihan

HF:  Pettifer     Richo          Krakouer
       Walker     Waite           Lappin

F:    P.Bowden   Schulz        Brown
      O'hAilpin    Thorton       Simpson

R:   Pattison    Tambling     Johnson
      Ackland      Kouta        Stevens

Int: Graham, Tuck, Howat, McGuane
       Cloke, Russell, Gibbs, Carrazzo

Going by Plough's article on the RFC site it seems he has settled on McGuane playing round 1 in defence ahead of Moore. I can't squeeze a spot for Danny in the above side I had unless Gus isn't promoted and we go into the game with only one recognised ruckman.

I agree with Bully that the Blues are more prepared and battlehardened for this game than we are. We need to arrive ready to play, which hasn't been the case for most of the preseason, otherwise if they get a jump on us in the first quarter they will be tough to beat.

i am not convinced about McGuane ... but i know he is a defender ...

and he is young ... so i would rather have him playing in defence then Hall and Moore ...

i hope Will Thursfield gets a position before McGuane ...

will Chris Hyde get into the team ??? ... i believe he has to go ...

Danny Meyer ... hopefully gets in there ... replace Tivendale ...

i want to know how Patrick Bowden's pre-season has gone and where is his best position ???

i don't know ???

I think it will go like this (not how I would pick it though) -

B.......Newman.......Gaspar........Raines
HB.....P.Bowden.....J.Bowden.....Deledio
C.......Tambling......Tuck...........Tivendale
HF......Pettifer........Polak..........Brown
F........Krakouer......Schulz........Polo
R........Pattison......Johnson.......Foley
Int......Howat.........Knobel.........Meyer.........McGuane

Assuning Richo and Simmo won't come up.

If Richo comes up then Knobel out.  Polak would relieve Patto in the ruck considering Carlton don't have a strong ruck.

The centreline of Tambling, Tuck, Tivendale, with Johnson and Foley doesn't inspire much confidence.  We might be able to bully the Carlton kids and win, but when we meet the big boys and the class midfielders, we won't stand a chance unfortunately.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

Pagan is going to play O'hAilpin on Richo.

Quote
The round one match against Richmond looks set to be crucial in the development of another inexperienced player, Setanta O'hAilpin, with the Irishman almost certain to line up against star Tigers forward Matthew Richardson.

"We will, we'll play Setanta, we'll go with him all the way through," Pagan said.

"He's just come on in leaps and bounds and we're gonna stick with him and, okay, if he makes a few blues, we'll ride them and go with him."

We'll need a big game from the big fella if he's our only tall down there. Let's hope Sarge hasn't done himself another injury at training today :pray.

Does anyone think Carlton are out-psyching themselves? How many times do they need to tell the media the NAB cup win hasn't gone to their heads.

Anyway here's what Blues fans think the possible match-ups will be:

- Russell to tag Deledio
- Simpson v Tambling on a wing
- Bentick v Tuck
- Murphy tagged, Hyde, Polo or Foley
- Stevens tagged by Johnson
- Setanta v Richardson
- Ackland/Cloke v Simmonds/Knobel (if Simmonds fit)
- Thornton v Schulz
- Waite v Pattison
- Walker v Pettifer

You should get a job as a forward scout.  ;)

Can safely say that Stevens and Simpson will be tagged.( Doubt whether Tambling will get the job though)
Lappin will be closely checked. ;)
