HUGE TRUenergy VFL ANZAC DAY SHOWDOWN

Rivals Box Hill Hawks and Coburg Tigers square off tomorrow in what shapes as an epic TRUenergy VFL Anzac Day encounter at Box Hill City Oval.

Captains Kristian Height and Travis Ronaldson will lead their charges into battle for the Anzac Day Cup in front of an expected crowd of more than 3,000 people.

Among the young guns expected to line-up for the Tigers are Jack Riewoldt, who has kicked seven goals from three rounds, Adam Pattison, Cam Howatt and Danny Meyer. Full back Zac Dawson, forward Beau Muston and Beau Dowler could turn out for the Hawks.

Coburg has been in impressive form. A come from behind victory over North Ballarat in round two was backed up with a big 61-point win over Werribee. After a shaky start, Box Hill is looking to notch its first win of the year and will lift in front of a vocal home crowd.

The big clash will kick off at 2.08pm and be preceded by the national anthem at 2pm to be sung by Gemma Purdy and a rendition of the Last Post and Reveille.

There will also be a jumping castle for the kids, entertainment and the presentation of the Gibbs-Lines Medal after the game.

Richmond star and former Box Hill player Troy Simmonds will be special guest at the president’s lunch.

At noon, Whitehorse Mayor Cr John Koutras and Box Hill Hawks President John Ure will open City Oval’s new entrance, which has been named “The Ron and Barbara Gibbs Entrance”. Ron and Barbara Gibbs combined committee service to the club equals 122 years.

Box Hill City Oval is located at the corner of Middleborough and Whitehorse roads, Box Hill.

Remember, entry is only $9 for adults and the kids are free. Experience the difference at the TRUenergy VFL…where the elite meet the community.

In: Polo (dropped), Moore (back from injury)

Polo gets dropped but it seems not one senior player pays for 4 straight losses ::).

JON is playing so if he's to play on Saturday now you'd think he'd only play some of tomorrow's game.

Good Coburg side though. Let's hope our lads can back up their strong efforts and continue to put pressure on Richmond spots.

i doubt very much that JON and cleve will play

they have been listed as back pockets, no way they will play there.

they wont play today and both play on sat

i agree with wp

why punish polo for 1 bad quarter and a shocking hair do.

this just reaasures all our senior duds that they can get away with mediocrity

its either tery has lost the plot completely, or we are tanking! for picks

They well may play on Saturday x - at Box Hill in the Coburg Reserves. Burger reserves are playing Sat. Perhaps they are keeping a few kids out of this game in case they are needed for Sat because there is no way any player could play today and then front up again on Sat for Richmond

Polo gets dropped but it seems not one senior player pays for 4 straight losses ::).

Look I'll admit that I am a Polo fan but here's why I am bit ticked off with this decision.

We've played 4 games - Polo has been good in 2 (Blues & Swans), poor against the Pies and reasonable against the Dogs apart from Cooney's 3 goals in 5 minutes - 2 of which can after the game was OVER. Actually would argue strongly that up until the last qtr Polo had one that contest because Cooney had touched the ball 13 times.

Other more "senior" players and a few of the younger ones have been either poor or reasonable at best for all 4 games and are still there - tell me where is the logic ::) :P :help

Hey WP, must hair something to do with the hair.
I think he was lead astray by his hairdresser.
Anyway, if you going to have hair like that, you would want to be an absolute GUN
